I can open the business files on the app, but it won't open Quicken Data where I have all my personal finances.

Try searching for 'QUICKEN' on this forum….

You cant just use the Quicken files, they need to be imported properly before you can use them. There are a couple of experrs here who should be able to guide youmthrough it…
    Good luck!

I have opened them for years. I just opened them last weekend and now I
can't. I didn't do anything to them between now and then.

So they are converted files? If so, have you tried 'open Other' from the opening MD file selector at startup? Just a thought?

They were files that had been exported to Moneydance years ago from Quicken. I have the current version Moneydance. It opened last weekend and now nothing. I am starting a new personal finance and I am slowly exporting all of my files. It is just annoying since it worked last weekend.

Moneydance cannot delete data sets (data files) it is just not possible. So unless some other program has they are still sitting on your computer.

Use the Moneydance menu command File => Open, if it is in the list on the right hand side you can double click on it and it should open, if it is not you can use "Open Other" to open an explorer window where you can navigate to it and open it.

If you do not know where the file is you can use Explorer/Finder to find all files/folders with the extension .moneydance.

The Moneydance data set is in a folder/bundle with this extension, it is not a single file. so you are looking for a folder with the right name and extension.

    Hi Julie

Have you set up Moneydance backup under FILE – PREFERENCES – BACKUPS. If you had set this up you can restore this backup by using FILE – RESTORE FROM BACKUP.

Its worth installing the Extension TOOLBOX from under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSION. Then under EXTENSIONS run TOOLBOX. Then click on FIND MY DATASET(S) AND BACKUPS. This way you may be able to find your lost file and any backups it has.

    Hope this helps.
