Account Balance Graph malfunction
When I use the Account Balance graph with an account containing thousands of records dating back to the mid 1990's, and I select either "Group by Day" or "Group by Month", the graph is simply a straight line. With other "Group by" options, I get the expected graph.
See attached screenshots of "group by month" graph and config.
See attached screenshots of "group by week" graph and config.

I've tried what you are doing with Moneydance 2024.4 (5253) but have not been able to reproduce the problem, the graph is being displayed as it should.

For info

I added 11,981 test transactions. The “by month” graph tails off at the end. Not exactly what I see, but not correct. I’ve attached the images I get and the test CSV file.
Best,
Mark

I’m wondering if you’re blowing memory or something. Reproduce the DAY one and then grab help/show console and upload that here as a txt file.

OK. I was able to reproduce the problem with test data. I created the following:
BANK
Checking
CHK 001 (containing 2000 transactions from attached CSV)
CHK 002 (containing 2000 transactions from attached CSV)
CHK 003 (empty)
I imported 2000 transactions from the attached CSV into both the CHK 001 and CHK 002 accounts.
Then, in the Account Balance graph settings, I selected:
- All dates
- Account: Checking
- Include Sub-Accounts (checked)
- Group by Day/Week/Month/Quarter/Year
Group by Day, Month, Quarter, and Year all FAILED
Group by Week SUCCEEDED
See attached files:

TEST success by week - graph.png

No messages were logged to the console other than the dimensions of the settings window when that window is drawn to the screen.

Nice testing!!! I can reproduce and see the issue. It actually has nothing to do with(really) with old or many txns.... It's the combination of All Dates and having two txns on the same first (detected) date as the graph. If you manually set the dates, then it works. If you put two txns on the same first date as the all dates, then it goes wrong...
Digging deeper....

Further, even with just a single account. Add a txn - even with zero value - using the same date as the first txn in that account, and bang - the ABG flat-lines.....

FYI - I have proposed a code fix to IK. I cannot speak to when they will release the next version.
A quick fix is to adjust the first txn in your dataset so that you don't have two txns on the first date of an all date graph, or manually set the dates in the graph...
