A few days ago, my Moneydance data became completely scrambled. It is just showing a few monthly payments and a very large balance. I have tried to restore from previous back ups, but they are all opening with scrambled data. Any suggestions?

The problem description is a bit generic.

The first question I have is if all the transaction are actually present? I do not necessarily mean in order, but they actually exist in the account. I'm trying to determine if there is a data problem in itself.

The second is you say the balance is out.

Is this the running balance, the balance at the bottom of the transaction register, the balance in the sidebar, or in multiple places?

The running balance is way off, thousands of dollars off. All the
transactions seem to be there, but only a few repeated transactions are
showing. The other transactions are hidden.

Are you sorting transactions by date?

Yes. I use it like a regular check book

Make sure you are not in split screen mode, that is the small icon next to the new transaction button, it is a toggle.

I would also re-force the sort by clicking on the Date header or right click on a transaction and selecting Sort By ...

    Hi John,

Firstly, you should ensure that the filter at the top of the register is set to "All".

Also, there is a button that toggles between "split" and "combined mode" at the top-right corner of the register, next to New Transaction.

If this is in split mode, then all unconfirmed transactions will be shown in a second register which appears below the regular register.

This can sometimes be collapsed, so that all it shows is a bar with a label that says "N unconfirmed transactions". If you see that bar, drag it up vertically and you'll see the unconfirmed transactions in that list.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.
