Deleted transactions keep reappearing
Hi,
I backup each time I close, and I regularly have to keep deleting old transactions from open and closed accounts that show up again when I reopen the program.

Are you syncing with any other devices?

I do have recently setup the sync, but only using on 1 device atm. This issue was happening before I setup the sync as well.

Please post your Moneydance error log I suspect that may give us a guide to what is happened. I am thinking there may be some bad transaction files, the log should hopefully show if that is the case.
Depending on what operating system and version you are using the error log should be in one of the following locations:
1. macOS
On a Mac, the error log should be located at one of these locations within your Home folder:
macOS Big Sur and later:
~/Library/Containers/Moneydance/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt
macOS X Lion until macOS X Catalina:
~/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt
macOS X Snow Leopard and earlier:
~/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt
If you have any trouble finding your Home Library folder you can open Finder and hold down the option key while selecting the Go menu and the Library folder option should occur or you can open Finder and select Go -> Go to Folder and copy and paste in the following:
~/Library
This should pull up your local Library folder.
Some Moneydance files/folders on macOS are likely to be hidden, on macOS to show hidden files the key sequence CMD-SHIFT-DOT (that’s a period or ‘.’) will show them.
2. Windows
On Windows, the error log should be located under your login directory at:
Windows Vista and later:
C:\Users\(yourusername)\.moneydance\errlog.txt
or
Before Windows Vista:
C:\Documents and Settings\(yourusername)\.moneydance\errlog.txt
No Moneydance files/folders are hidden on Windows.
3. Linux
On Linux the error log should be located in your home folder at:
~/.moneydance/errlog.txt
Some Moneydance files/folders on Linux will be hidden, so for example the .moneydance folder that exists within your login folder is hidden. On Linux to show hidden files the various file managers generally have an option to view hidden files. In a terminal session (i.e. at the command line) use the command “ls” with the -a flag to show all files including those that are hidden.

Did you receive the error file?

You should use the online forum to post the file, using the Attach file option.

I had to compress the file as it was too big, but I still don't think it went through?/

Moneydance error log files are not terribly large, typically they under 100KB, they are a text file you should be able to read.
They look something like:

This is my compressed file

This problem has been going on for a while, that is quite some error log
With Moneydance closed try moving the file trunk-201802011607.txn
in:
C:\Users\grell\.moneydance\Documents\Gremlin finances_2023-08-29_2023-08-29_2025-07-09_2025-07-18_2025-08-27-20251009-1243\safe\tiksync\out\
to another folder, outside of Moneydance
and see if that helps the problem. I think some cleaning up of the Account set will be advisable once it is happier.
You may also want to consider renaming your Account set to something a little more manageable, the appended date strings can be problematic if they are left to grow.

Run toolbox extension. Update mode. Advanced menu. Shrink dataset. Use 1 day.
