Currency Exchange Rates not updating

I'm running 2024.4 with Quotes and Exchange Rates Updater 1046 on a Mac running Sequoia 15.6.1. I added Uruguayan pesos to the currency list as it was not included and entered the correct ISO currency ID (UYU) and prefix ($U) , with the number of decimal places set to automatic. No matter what I do, the rate still shows as 1 when it should be somewhere around 0.025. I've removed and readded the currency and downloaded updates from the ECB several times and restarted Moneydance, and it still won't update the exchange rate.
I'd appreciate any recommendations on steps to make this work.

    Hi, Maddy.
    Yes, I used that article in creating the currency and have restarted several times. Also got an Alphavantage API key, and tried to use that, but the extensions gives a message saying it was unable to update that currency. Neither that nor ECB works,

    In order to determine what might be causing the problem, please can you send us your Moneydance error logs?

    They are saved on your computer as an errlog.txt file.

    You can get to your error logs as follow:

    1) navigate to Help->Console Window to show the console log in a window

    or

    2) in the Finder, press ⌘⇧G and then copy and paste ~/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support into the field and press enter/return.

    At that point the finder will show an internal folder containing the errlog.txt file which includes the log.

    Finally you can paste the full content to your next reply.
    To add an attachment to this thread, please click on the "Browse" button.

    Alternatively:

    when you are in register view, navigate to Help/Moneydance->Console Window.

    At the bottom left of the window you should see a round symbol and a downwards arrow.

    Click the arrow and choose: File and Folders->Console log->Show file location.

    In the following window you should see a file called error log, you can open the file and copy the content in your next reply or add it as an attachment (whichever is easier)

    Thank you for the additional information!

    Firstly, please can you rename your data set, currently: muran_20191230-1513-20210123-2136-20210712-1948_2022-09-02.moneydance

    • To achieve this, you can follow the steps in this article of the Knowledge base.

    It's important you close the Moneydance program fully before you make any changes.

    Then rename the data file. You should retain the .moneydance file extension at the end of the file name.

    You should open the desired file and navigate to Window->Welcome to Moneydance
    When starting->Re-Open Last File    . Upon restart Moneydance should re-open the file you have chosen.

    If the problem persists:

    • Launch the "Toolbox", and select Update Mode

    • Navigate to Menu: Currency & Security tools

    • Select: DIAG: Diagnose currencies/securities (including relative currencies)

    Finally, please copy and paste the results in your next reply.

    The base currency for the file is USD; I have one UYU account with the currency field set correctly.

    Can you navigate to Extensions->Quote and Exchange Rates and send us a screenshot of the resulting window, please?

    Also, what happens when you select Quote and Exchage Rates, Download now?

    When I select the Download option you described, I get a message at the bottom of the main window that says "Downloading exchange rates from European Central Bank" and then a few seconds later a message saying that it's finished downloading.

    Your set up seems fine Deanna!
    You could try changing source again or try switching to the Quote Loader, perhaps.

    UYU is supported, but its reliability depends on the data source you select in the updater:

    • European Central Bank (ECB):

    Covers major currencies like USD, EUR, GBP, and UYU.
    Updates are typically stable but may exclude less common currency pairs (e.g., UYU to ARS).

    • Alphavantage: Offers broader coverage but requires a valid API key.
      May have rate limits or occasional gaps in UYU data.
