Trying to install on new computer
I get an error message when trying to start the program. It reads "You must be at least a power user to run this program".
I have a current license.

That is not a Moneydance message
What sort of system do you have, Linux, Windows or Mac, what architecture is it, what kit are you trying to install?

A Ryzen 5 is an intel compatible processor.
So the correct kit would be:
https://infinitekind.com/stabledl/2024/Moneydance_windows_amd64.exe
I would expect that you need to have administrator privileges to install the software, a normal user should not be able to given the install location.

Hi Frank,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.
You need to proceed as follow:
Download Moneydance 2024.4 (5253) here - select the Windows installer;
Click on Save File and rename it to Moneydance 2024.4 (5253), to make it more visible;
Wait for the file to download fully;
Click on the downward arrow on your Browser to view the download link;
double click on the installer to open the file and initiate the installation;
In the window that opens, welcome to the Moneydance Setup Wizard you should choose:
Yes, update the existing installation (this will overwrite the older version)
Click "Next", allow the installation to complete and click "Finish".
Finally, when you launch Moneydance your data file/s will be detected automatically. If this is not the case, select Open other and navigate to the location where they are stored.
To register Moneydance 2024, when you are in register view, navigate to Help->Register Moneydance and enter your license key.
This will remove the trial limitations.
If have not done so already, you can find the steps for Moving your data file/s to a new computer here.
Alternatively you could try this approach:
From the old computer navigate to Moneydance->Show Document folder.
Locate the file you wish to move over (check the time stamp). Close Moneydance!
Copy your data file (YourFileName.moneydance) to a USB drive (if it's easier) and paste it to the default location in the new computer.
While doing this, you should ensure that the software is fully closed on the new computer.
In this way Moneydance will detect the file automatically. Finally, you should launch Moneydance on the new computer, Moneydance should open in the Welcome Window and the file name will be dispayed on the right side of the window.
If you wish to sync your file between computers instead, please refer to this article:
"Syncing with Other Computers" here
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.
