How can I change the beginning balance on my reconciliation?

You cannot.
It is a calculated balance, defined as:
Initial Balance of the Account + Balance Adjustment + Cleared Deposits - Cleared Payments
If it does not agree with the opening balance on your statement, it means there is an error in the account. If you were able to adjust the balance you would only be hiding the error.

In fact there is a software problem. My prior month ending balance was reconciled to the bank statement; yet per Money Dance the current month beginning balance is different than the prior month's ending balance as reconciled.
Specifically, I reconciled Money Dance to my bank statement last month with no discrepancies. Per this month's bank statement.my beginning balance equals last month's ending, yet per Money Dance the beginning balance is considerably different. Unless previously reconciled transactions were altered ending should equal beginning. which it does per bank statement but not per Money Dance.

Then a previously reconciled txn was altered, or deleted etc.. MD does not stop this
