I have a new computer running Linux Pop!_OS Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS. After a fresh installation of Moneydance 2024.4 (5253), when I attempt to add a category to a transaction the category list pop-up flashes very rapidly, preventing the ability to use or select any Categories. This was not happening on my previous Linux Mint OS. This looks like a potential bug. I am licensed.

Thanks for sending that thread. Looks like there is no fix unfortunately. I'm not changing to a different OS so I'll be looking for some other solution.

You could stay with the same O/S but use a different Desktop Environment. Otherwise yes it looks like you would need a different financial management program at this time.

I'm going to try a distrobox container for the application in ubuntu so I don't have to change anything with the os.

I also experienced the same problem and hoping for a fix in the Cosmic DE. The following isn't ideal, but I have verified it works (performance is solid) so figured I'd share for others. I used virt-manager as a frontend for libvirtd (I initially tried Virtualbox but it was way too slow/sluggish) to do the net install of Debian 13 to give me a minimal version (using LxQt for the desktop environment) and then installed Moneydance on that. I setup a file share to map my local ~/.moneydance folder to the equivalent on the VM and that seemed to work.

My ultimate workaround solution is to install Virtualbox on Pop!_OS and then create a new Virtual Machine running Linux Mint and then installing Moneydance. Configure the VM to allow access to the Moneydance folder on the host. Moneydance works normally within the VM. One day this will be fixed in Pop!_OS but for now Linux Mint running in a VM is my solution. Works great.
