Desired File Not Opening

I want to Open a File from a Backup. In File Explorer I can see the File in moneydance\archives\backups.
I open MD and the Summary screen of the File I last used appears. File>Open>Open Other. Backups screen appears. (I have checked that the path is .moneydance\archive\backups). There are no file names on the screen, although there are 28 Moneydance Archive Files there. Change to All Files. Locate the File I want to open (.qif) and choose. Nothing happens.
Perhaps I need to Restore rather than Open, but I am already at the Summary screen of a different File. Restore mashes the two files into one, creating more work to clean that up. I do not see a Preference setting for me to see the Welcome To Moneydance screen upon startup, instead of the Summary screen of the last File I used.
Thanks for any help.

Hello. Did I post this incorrectly? I haven't gotten any feedback, which is unusual. Can anyone tell what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

When a file is open. Go to help, welcome screen. On there untick the option to reopen same file. Then restart MD.

Restore NEVER mashes two files together. It always creates a new dataset with a new name. You probably need UNTICK retain sync settings when restoring to prevent newer changes from updating the restored dataset.

You can also just double click a xxx.moneydancearchive file to start the restore process.

Thank you Stuart. In case it helps someone else, on my version Welcome To Moneydance was in the Window pull-down. Once I changed the welcome screen, I was able to accomplish my other tasks. Thanks again.
