Password (encryption)

I'm using Moneydance 2010 version 740 on a MAC. Using good and fast 56 DES encryption.

I've noticed that the first time I enter the password to get into the program I get a message that an incorrect password was used. The second time it usually works. I've changed the password, and the same thing happens.

Any ideas?

    Pagoff,

I don't have any ideas for the solution, as you are not using the most recent version (2010r3 build 749), please update to that version. You can download the update here. This update has resolved a few key issues our users have been experiencing. This will allow us to better diagnose your issue. Please let me know if your issue persists and we will look into other solutions, and include the version of Java you are running

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

Thanks for your response. I did upgrade to 749. The problem continues.

Ordinarily I simply enter the password quickly and hit return without following the progress of the entry. I'm now using a shorter password and have noted the following.

When starting Moneydance after about 5 seconds, whether entering a password or not, the entry field box appears to jump. If I am entering the password and it jumps several of the password letters disappear. I notice the same jumping behavior when I simply click on Moneydance and watch the entry field, it seems to jump after about 4 or 5 seconds.

My guess is that I'm too quick to enter the password and the program is still loading--though this is a recent happening.

Alternatively, could it be that the program files somewhere that are corrupted?

I've used Moneydance for a couple of years, now, quite pleased, and have never had this problem until recently.

I apologize for the delay in our response. I am unable to reproduce this issue with my data file. Is this issue continuing with build 751? If so, would you be willing to send me a data file (it can even be nearly empty) which is encrypted, with a dummy password such as "Password" or something like that? This will assist me in troubleshooting the issue.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

    Angie, sorry for not corresponding.

I think what's happening is that when the sign-in opens there is a 5 or six second period during which the program, I think, is checking for updates. When that is complete there is some sort of restart of the sign-in.

If you promptly start your password at the initial sign-in you lose letters of your password when the program reboots the sign-in. if you are not paying attention as I was and simply continue typing it in, the password is incomplete and the program rejects it. If I wait the six seconds or so and then sign in there is no problem.

I hope this is understandable. Many thanks for your continuing interest.
