Unable to get online bill payment working

I am unable to get online bill pay to work.

I am using Moneydance 2008r3 (629) over Linux SUSE 10.3

I have a checking account with USAA. I am using their billpay
successfully via their website. I have successfully setup
Moneydance "Online Banking" and downloaded transactions from
my USAA checking account.

-- "Square One"

While viewing my checking account transactions in Moneydance,
the "Online" pulldown menu has the following three entries
still greyed out:

 - Online Bill Payment...
 - Send Payment To >
 - Show Online Transactions

The other four items on that menu are active (dark grey).

When I select the "Set Up Online Bill Payment" item from
that "Online" Menu, I first get to select "Financial
Insitution". I select "USAA Federal Savings Bank", the
same one I used to download my checking account transactions
into Moneydance. Then I click on Next>> and get to choose
a Moneydance account. I select my Moneydance account for
this checking account and click on Next>> again. I am asked
for my USAA online authentication (User ID and PIN). I enter
that and click OK. I am presented with a list of the accounts
that I have with USAA. I select my USAA checking account.
At this point, the "Bill Payment Enabled" item below this list
is greyed out, but still checked on. The "Online Banking"
item is both active (dark grey) and checked on. I again click
on Next>>. I am informed:

Moneydance now has most of the information
needed to connect to your financial institution for
this account.  Click the 'Finish' button below to
complete the process.

I obediently click the "Finish" button, and the pop-up goes away.

I am now back to "Square One", as labeled above. The "Online
Bill Payment..." item on the "Online" pulldown is still greyed out.

Lather, rinse, repeat. Do not pass GO. Do not pay bills ;).

Variations of the above, such as exiting and restarting
Moneydance and selecting "Download Transactions..." from
the Online menu do not change the above result.

    Hi Paul

    Firstly I recommend upgrading to the latest preview release build 637. There have been some bug fixes in the signin part of the code. To automatically install this version first intsll the "Moneydance Updater" extension by clicking Extensions->Add..,

    Secondly I recommend you call your bank. It is sometimes necessary to instruct them to enable online bill payment through Direct Connect in addition to it being enabled through their website. I would tell them that you are using Quicken, doing so usually makes the process a little smoother as your banks representative may not have heard of Moneydance.

    I am curious to know if you ever got this working with USAA. I am thinking about opening a USAA checking account specifically to use the online banking and online bill pay via direct connect.

    Yes, I got it going. My apologies for not following up.
    I'm sure I downloaded build 637 as recommended above.
    What else, if anything, I had to do is now forgotten.

    I opened a checking account with USAA and can't get the online billpay to work. I finally emailed them and they say that they only support web billpay. Is billpay using OFX direct connect still working for you?
