Moneydance 2010 will not start after the last update
Hi
After accepting the update to the latest version of MD2010 the application will no longer start properly. It starts and the application is running but there is no visible UI.
This is on Windows 7 64bit
I tried downloading a full version having uninstalled, but it again offered the updated and failed to start correclty afterwards.

Had the same issue after upgrade from version 2010 r2(735) to r3(750) on a macOX 10.6.3
Moneydance starts only displaying the moneydance menu, no other user interface.
Reverting back to r2 fixes it.

Same problem here, on MacOX 10.5.8

I suspect that the OS X users are experiencing a different problem than the Windows 7 users. If you are running OS X could you please attach your error.log file. To locate it please open Finder. Then select "Go TO Folder" enter "~/.moneydance/" in that folder you should see a file called error.log. Please attach that file to this discussion.
Mark, would you try running Moneydance and if you see its running item in the taskbar hover your mouse over that item. You should then see a thumbnail of the running program. Right click on that thumbnail and select Maximize. If that doesn't help let me know and I'll investigate further.

Hi Ben
It doesn't appear in the task bar at all I'm afraid. The only way that I could tell it was running was from task manager.

I am having the same prob. Win 7 64 bit. It does appear on the task bar and when I hover the thumbnail appears. It will not maximize though.

I just upgraded, running Mac OS 10.6.3. Moneydance menu loads (but ONLY the 'Moneydance' menu), but data files do not open. Please hurry with a fix - I need to get to my data! (Or alternately, where can I download a copy of r2? I couldn't find it online, and I'm OK with downgrading until a fix for r3 is found.) Thanks!

Scott,
On 10.6.3, this is how I reverted back to r2
in /Applications/Moneydance.app/Contents/Resources/Java, you'll find moneydance.bak. This is the r2 version.
Make sure moneydance is not running.
rename moneydance.jar (this is the r3 just installed) to something else and then rename moneydance.bak to moneydance.jar
Start moneydance and that that will do it.

Having the same issue on Mac OS 10.6 Is there a fix yet?
13 Posted by Herb D'Argenio on 22 May, 2010 05:19 PM
If there is no immediate fix to this problem can you please give us a easy way to downgrade to a prior version that works?
14 Posted by Ben Spencer on 22 May, 2010 05:31 PM
I don't yet have a fix for this. I have forwarded the error.logs to the developers and hopefully we will have an answer for you on Monday.
If you want to revert to MD2010r2 build 735 it can be downloaded from the link below:
http://moneydance.com/download/2010-735/
I am sorry for the trouble this is causing you.
Sincerely
Ben Spencer

The fix is now released, build 751(which is not the latest stable build) has resolved this issue.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

I'm on the latest version of Moneydance but I have to get on Build 751 to solve my issue. What is the proper way to migrate to this release? Do I have to create a QIF file and then import it into the program or do I just download Build 751 and everything resolves itself?
19 Posted by Herb D'Argenio on 26 May, 2010 10:50 PM
Please send instructions to migrate to this release. What are the
steps? Do I have to create a QIF file and import it to the new
release of just download Build 751?

Download and install the new build 751. When you run it it will look in your existing preferences and load your existing data file. The is no need to export and then import.

Hi, even after install 751 I still have the issue. Any other work arounds?
22 Posted by Ben Spencer on 24 Aug, 2010 01:21 PM
Hi Sakthis
I need confirmation that you are having the same problem. Can you please attach the errlog.txt file. On window 7 this will be under C:\users\your-user-name.moneydance

Hi Ben, I have uploaded the errlog
thanks
24 Posted by Ben Spencer on 24 Aug, 2010 01:36 PM
The errlog.txt file you have attached does not contain any error messages. This and the belief we have that the bug reported by others in this thread is fixed leads me to believe that that you are experiencing a different issue. Could you please start a new discussion describing in detail the problem you are having.
Sincerely

Hello. Is there an easy fix for this issue? out of the blue today I tried to open Moneydance and as the users above reported, the Task Manager reports that it is running, and it appears in the Taskbar, but I cannot actually see the program or my data.
I tried downloading both the 751 and the 735 versions but both have the same problem. I am running Windows 7.
Please help soon!
thanks
Alexandra

Hi Alexandra,
First, make sure you have upgraded to 751. There is a bug in 735 that causes this problem.
Once you've upgraded, run Moneydance. You should at least get a dock icon for it. If you hover over that icon, you'll see an image of the Moneydance window. Right-click on that image and choose Maximize. This should allow you to see your Moneydance window. After you save and close Moneydance, this problem should be resolved.
