PNC online banking problem

Hey guys,

I am a former National City Bank user (now PNC bank) and have used MD for quite awhile. After the conversion from National City to PNC, I was able to reconnect to my account, download transactions etc. I upgraded to the newest version of MD yesterday and since that time I am receiving the following error when I attempt to download my PNC transactions.

There was an error communicating with your financial institution. The details of this error are below.

A communication or parsing error occurred. This could be the result of a network problem, a proxy error, or misconfigured server.
Error Description: java.io.IOException: HTTP Error:400 Bad Request

Like others with the same error message, I have reset my online banking, turned off encryption, forgot passwords etc. I updated to the latest version of Java today and am still having the problem. My username and password are the same as they were 3 days ago. Did something happen with this new version of MD?

Moneydance 2010r3 (751)
Java Version: 1.6.0_20

Any help would be appreciated

Jason

Same problem. Solved by downgrading to previous version of MD (rc2).

Both updates 750 and 751 caused this problem for me.

Thanks elmo. I hate to have to do that but if it's the only way I will be able to update my account I definitely will.

To the MD folks: Any idea what the problem is or if it's fixable?

    Hi All,

We've had a couple of reports of problems with PNC after the upgrade to 751, but it's not universal. You could try resetting your connection to PNC before you upgrade. To do so, you can follow these steps:

    1) Select your bank account in Moneydance
    2) Select the Online->Setup Online Banking button/menu
    3) Click the "Disable" button. If you don't see a disable button, continue to step 5.
    4) Select the Online->Setup Online Banking button/menu (again)
    5) Click the "New Connection" button and select your bank and hit OK
    6) Continue with the setup process, entering your username/password
    7) Repeat steps 1-6 for any additional accounts

Make sure you pick new connection, even though your bank is still one of the connection choices after you disable it. Choosing your bank from the list of available banks will force Moneydance to download the updated information, which should then allow you to connect.

Please let me know if you continue to have connection problems after recreating your connection.

    Hey Jessica,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I followed the above steps as outlined and am still getting the same error message. Any other suggestions?

    Hi Jason,

It's seems like Moneydance is again having trouble "forgetting" your old connection information. To fix this, you'll need to force clear all of your current connection information in Moneydance. I've attached a file that will help do that. Before proceeding, please back up your Moneydance file, just in case something goes wrong. So far, this hasn't caused any problems, but better safe than sorry!

To use the file, first save it to your computer and then follow these steps:

    1) In Moneydance, click on the Extensions Menu and choose the "Add..." option
    2) In the window that pops up, make sure the "From Internet" option is selected and then click next.
    3) From the list of available extensions, choose the "python scripting interface" extension, then click Next to download the extension and finish to complete the installation.
    4) Again, click the Extensions menu. This time, choose the "Python Interface" option.
    5) In the python scripting window, click the "read from file" button and load the file from whereever you saved it. You won't get any confirmation of anything happening, but you also shouldn't get any error messages. Close the window when done.
    6) Set up the connection to your bank like normal. Since all of your settings have been cleared, you should get the most recent connection information for your bank.

Hopefully, that will work. If it doesn't, I'll need to check in with Sean about what's going on.

    Hey Jessica,

When I open the Python window and click "read from file," am I opening the
python file that I just downloaded or the moneydance file that includes my
    data?

    Hi all,

I was having the issues today, because I was caught up in the Nat. City to PNC conversion. I was getting the error 2003 ACCOUNT NOT FOUND.

First time I called they wouldn't tell me anything, because I wasn't using Quicken. However, on my next call I did my best to avoid the Quicken question. Found out that during the transition they sent out a lot of wrong routing numbers. I got the correct one from customer service, and have had no issues since then.

If anyone is having issues, you may want to check your account information with PNC customer information.

    Good luck!

@bbdog: THANK YOU for posting. THANK YOU THANK YOU.

I don't begrudge PNC for making a mistake, but they have had plenty of time to send out corrected routing numbers. What pathetic customer service.

    Angie,

I can now download fine. Attempts make payments fail. I get this message:

"java.lang.Exception: Server did not acknowledge payment message"

I know there's a thread about this and I've added a message there.

    Thanks!
