OFX Import in MD2010
I have been running both MD 2008 and MD 2010 simultaneously
prior to a full commitment to MD 2010. Today I ran into a new
problem with the download of OFX files. I have multiple accounts at
a local credit union and use OFX file imports to update both
programs. Today, one of the account files would not import
correctly in MD2010; the same file worked perfectly as usual in
MD2008. The file is for a line of credit account which is set up as
a credit card account. The problem manifests itself in MD2010 when
it tries to identify the file to an account. The account number is
displayed incorrectly as xxxxxxxxxx-I03 in MD2010 ( should be
xxxxxxxxxx-L03 as in MD 2008) and asks to pick the account to
associate it with and provides the list of Bank Accounts not Credit
Card accounts. I looked at the details of all of the OFX files that
were downloaded and the data appears correct when viewed in a
spreadsheet. Also tried an older OFX file with the same result. The
file in question is only updated monthly so the last time it was
imported correctly was with:
MD 2010r2(Build 746)
Currently:
MD 2010r3(Build 751)
WIN XP
Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!
Joe

Can you import the file if you change the account number in MD2010 by selecting Account->Edit Account?

I tried naming in many formats and the result was the same. While trying the naming exercise I concluded that the name being used in the import is consistent in that all files use the uncapitalized letter after the account number and dash (0000xxxxxx-) in MD2010. That is different than the way it is displayed in MD2008.
By the way, the MD2008 account does not show the account number at all in the account settings for the line of credit.

Hi Joe
I believe the problem is that the account reported in the OFX file is of the wrong type. MD2010 tightened up the import process to only allow accounts of a match type to be imported i.e. a bank account could not be imported into a credit card account. unfortunately some banks are incorrectly reporting the account type in the header of the OFX file.
We will be loosening up this restriction in the next beta release which will be out in a couple of weeks. Hopefully this will resolve the problem.
Sincerely
Ben Spencer
