Problem with TD Bank online banking - having trouble setting up checking and credit card accounts in the same file
I'm having a similar problem to Chris in the following support
thread:
http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/problems/1000-td-bank-onli...
I tried that solution, however, and no luck. I'm trying to add my checking account through TD Bank Business Direct, which I can do, but when I try to setup online banking for my TD Bank business credit card, which is accesed though TD Bank Online Banking, Moneydance won't change from TD Bank Business Direct to TD Bank Online Banking in the online setup pull down menu. I've tried it the other way, too, having the credit card set up through TD bank Online Banking, but then I can't enter the checking account through TD Bank Business Direct. When I tried the solution in teh thread for Chris, it allows me to set up the second of the two accounts I'm trying, but then I can't setup the first account as it has the same problem of not being able to switch between the two TD Bank online access accounts that I had before. Thanks for any help!

Hi Jake,
What version of Moneydance are you using? There was a bug in earlier versions of Moneydance that caused this problem. We thought was resolved, but may not be.

Hi I am new to MD. I am having the same problem with TD bank. I have the latest version 2010r3 and apparently it will only apply one online bank to all my accounts. I have a business account and personal savings and checking accounts with TD. MD will only assign one online bank to all of them. I tried downloading and applying the python extension. It did reset the online banking. I changed it to TD online banking for my personal accounts but now it will not allow me to change to the TD Business Direct account online. Please help
Thanks

Anthony,
This is almost certainly a mapping issue. When setting up a direct connection you will see several screens. First you'll select the bank you want to connect with. Then you'll screen where you select the Moneydance account you are setting up (see Account Mapping screenshot 1). Then a box will pop up asking you to enter your user name and password. After you do this, it will take you back to screenshot one which offers you a next option. This is a bit confusing- what is actually happening is that Moneydance is talking to your bank's server, and you should NOT be clicking next from the screenshot 1 interface. You will wait a few moments and then a box will pop up asking you which of your online accounts you want to connect with the Moneydance account you have selected (See account mapping screenshot 2).
I hope this helps, I personally have several accounts at one bank and Moneydance deals with them appropriately when I went through the process above, AND I recognize it is confusing. We are working on improving this interface for future versions of Moneydance.
If this doesn't help we'll look into other possible solutions. It would be helpful if you could send screenshots of what does happen when you try to set up the account with TD Business Direct.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

Thank you for the quick response Angie
I went through the procedure you described. The problem I am having
is that MD will not let me use "TD business direct" for my corporate
account if I established "TD online banking" to my personal accounts
and vice versa if I establish "TD bank businessDirect " first to my
corporate account then I cannot establish the "TD online banking" to
my personal account. I tried the download that was suggested on a
previous post to clear the online banking info. It cleared it but
again I can only use one or the other TD online banking sites for all
of my accounts. Then I tried to manually enter the OFX info for TD
that I found online and again the connection will not establish. The
online Financial signup screen in MD stays on the original bank that
was put in first. The "next" button remains grayed out and the
"Financial Institution" remains on the first site entered, in my case
"TD bank business direct" I would send you a screen shot but I don't
know how. I am using a mac os x version 10.5.8 and the most recent
MD. Please help this is very frustrating.
Thank you
Anthony

I noticed that if I pick a different institution , Commerce Bank NA for example, then MD will attempt to connect. But it will not attempt to connect nor change from TD bank online to TD Bank Business Direct or vice versa.

Anthony,
I can re-create this issue- when I try to create a new connection the "other" TD bank replaces the one which has an existing connection with it. I am going to pull in our developer and our direct connection specialist and see what kind of light they can shed on this. I apologize for the inconvenience, we are working on the issue.

Anthony,
I just spoke with our developer. He says that although we list them both in the list, these two banks actually use the same connection information/address. This means you can use either TD Online or TD Business for all of your accounts. Your user name and password is account specific, so enter the appropriate information for each account and you should be good to go! Please do let me know how it goes, and we'll look into other fixes if necessary.

I tried what you recommended and got an error that my account (personal savings and checking) are not recognized (TD Business Direct was the chosen financial institution) but my corporate account worked fine. I have the trial version of iBank and it works fine. Both TD business direct and TD online banking also are listed separately. I assigned each to the respective accounts and logged in with no problems. All accounts downloaded the information from the proper locations. It seems to be a programming problem in MD. TD bank will not allow my personal checking and savings accounts to download from the TD business direct site.

Hi Angie
Did you find any solutions to my problem?
12 Posted by Jessica Little on 19 Nov, 2010 04:34 PM
Hi Anthony,
I believe this is a bug in Moneydance. I've filed a ticket in our bug tracking software. It looks like it will be easy to fix, so we should have it fixed for our next release (assuming it doesn't turn out to be too tricky).
Unfortunately, I don't think there is an easy workaround for you to use until we've fixed the bug. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience. Hopefully we'll have this resolved shortly.

Hi Jessica
How long before the next release is finished?
14 Posted by Jessica Little on 24 Nov, 2010 02:09 PM
Hi Anthony,
Unfortunately, I don't have an exact time frame right now. However, we hope to have something out in the next few weeks. I'll certainly update you when it's out.

I'm having the same problem -- any more updates on when this might be fixed?

PS I'm using 2010r3 (757)

Unfortunately, we had a fix for this, but it caused more problems then it solved. We're working on a second fix. I don't have a timeline for it, but it is definitely on our radar.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience this is causing you.

It's been almost a year now... is there a solution to this bug? I'm having exactly the same problem, trying to reconfigure an account, X, in MD currently configured to use TD Bank Online Banking to use TD Bank BusinessDirect, instead. Account X is a business account that is using my TD Bank personal login to download transactions. That has been my workaround, which was to ask TD Bank to link my business account to my personal banking login. This works fine for transaction downloads. However, it doesn't work well for sending online payments from MD, because while the checks generated by TD Bank are drawn from the business account (correctly), they print with my personal name and address, which tends to confuse vendors.

We haven't yet resolved this, I'm sorry to say. Thanks for bumping it back into our attention though. I've bumped up the priority on this bug. Hopefully, we'll get a working fix into our next release.

Thanks. It would be much better to be able to send business checks directly from MD. In the meantime, the workaround I described might be helpful to others experiencing the same problem.
