Strange transactions ahowing up in credit card download
I am seeing one or two strange transactions showing up every
month in my Discover card download. Basically, a string of letters
and a zero amount. The category shown is the default for this card;
there is no sign of any such transaction on the actual paper
statement. I am attaching a screenshot so you can see what is
happening. Am willing to look at any XML files if you tell me where
to look.
Am using MD build 751 on a Mac running snow Leopard OSX 10.6.2
There are also occaisional duplicate transactions but much less of
a problem

These transactions are almost certainly included in the download from discover. You can see the raw OFX data coming in from discover when you do a download if you select Help->Console Window and then do the download.
Its only a guess and it might be that these are verification transactions. I have heard that companies will apply a $0.00 transaction to your credit card when you use your card for a booking or reservation. The purpose being to verify that you have given them a valid card number.
