problems with account download with fidelity 401k
Hi,
I'm new to moneydance, one of the no doubt many MS money refugees. I got eventually got everything imported over, and am now trying to setup online accounts. I setup a download for a 401k account at Fidelity. I got the initial setup done ok, but when i download transactions, I first off get ask to match securities, this is fine for the first few, but after the securities that i actually have positions in have been matched, i'm then asked to match securities with numerical names e.g. ".... security name 0651", there's a bunch of these, looking at the register, these seem to correspond to the original set of securities i was asked to match. Is there a good way to clean this up, and in such a way i don't have to keep fixing it?
I'm using MD2010 (751) on OSX 10.6.4
Thanks
Simon

In addition, if i manually change a downloaded entry to the correct security, I still don't get an option to match against the existing entry that's from my original import from MS Money.

Has there been any progress on this issue. I am a current MS Money user in the midst of upgrading to Windows7 and therefore evaluating a replacement for Money. I have the trial version and am encountering this issue, I don't think I can purchase the full version unless I know this issue is resolved.

I ended up downloading the file manually and using a text editor was able to view the file and work out which securities had these weird names, it would be really useful if the match screen showed more information from the transaction/security info in the file during the match prompt.
As a recent convert from money, I've found the investment side of things in MD to be somewhat lacking. (this issue, the lack of ability to merge transactions in investment accounts, which is a royal PIA, a bunch of other things, like no info on todays change in value)

Simon,
I spoke with our developer about this today, and he said:
"This is interesting, and we made some changes in this area recently which may have caused this issue. If they are importing downloaded ofx/qfx files it would be really helpful to get a copy of their data file (even if they delete all transactions from that copy) along with one of the ofx/qfx files that we could try to import and debug."
So, if you're willing to help us delve deeper into this issue you could send these files (the stripped data file containing the problem account and the file you are importing) to me at Angie (at) Moneydance (dot) com we would greatly appreciate it. We take user privacy seriously here and the data file will only be used for diagnostic purposes, stored securely, and disposed of when we are finished.
Thanks for bringing this issue up, and we hope to have a resolution in progress soon.
