I oriiginally started with Moneydance by downloading my accounts from Quicken 2009. Everything was fine until I set up bill pay. It recognizes my institiution and when I set up a payee account my institution gets it ok. When I try to pay a bill to that account, I get the following opaque message: There was an error communicating with your financial institution. The details of this error are below. Then "Bank name:" followed by the correct name of my bank. I did use Quicken Billpay before with this bank and it worked.

I'm using the program on an iMac. IT is: Moneydance 2010r2 (735)
OS: Mac OS X 10.6.4 i386
Java: 1.6.0_20 (Apple Inc.)

I've been having an ongoing problem with basically the same thing only I'm with Union Bank of Ca. and I keep getting this message "The error code reported by the server was: 2014". In the past I could get the payment to go thru by continuing to send it, but now I tried over 30 times and it's just not going thru. Looks like I'll have to go back to Quicken.
This is the sole reason for me not sticking with moneydance. Everything else is decent but come on, paying bills is the main reason to use this program and it's completely unreliable.

    Ron,

As you are not using the most recent version (2010r3 build 751), please update to that version. You can download the update here. This update has improved some of our direct connection functions, and has also fixed a bug in earlier versions which caused error messages to display in too small a window and appear truncated. After you download the update, please try the bill pay feature again and copy and paste the full error message below. I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

I updated with the 751 build and got a new error message when I tried to use Bill Pay:

There was an error communicating with your financial institution. The details of this error are below.

Bank Name: Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union

    Account: SLFCU Checking
    Account Number: 330910-90-01

The error code reported by the server was: 2006

    Robert,

You've hit upon perhaps the most difficult bug that we're currently dealing with. We're not sure what's causing it, but Sean and I have been trying to figure out what's going on for some number of months now. It's not yet fixed, but we are still working on it. Unfortunately, I don't have any workarounds for you and a good idea of even when we might have it fixed. Hopefully we'll have it fixed soon, however.

Also, I believe Union Bank of CA recently updated their connection information and is now called Union Bank NA. This might explain the sudden new error message you're getting. If you try connecting to Union Bank NA, you should be able to pay bills again. You'll probably still need to resubmit multiple times due to the other bug, but at least you'll be able to pay eventually. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience.

    Ron,

That error message usually indicates that either your account at the bank isn't activated for bill payments or that you've mistyped your account number when you entered it into Moneydance. First, you should check your account info in Moneydance to make sure you didn't accidentally make a typo in the account or routing number. If all of your information looks correct, try deleting a recreating your connection in Moneydance. To do so, you can follow these steps:

    1) Select your bank account in Moneydance
    2) Select the Online->Setup Online Banking button/menu
    3) Click the "Disable" button. If you don't see a disable button, continue to step 5.
    4) Select the Online->Setup Online Banking button/menu (again)
    5) Click the "New Connection" button and select your bank and hit OK
    6) Continue with the setup process, entering your username/password
    7) Repeat steps 1-6 for any additional accounts

If you still get the same error after that, try calling your bank and letting them know that you're having problems with bill payments. If you tell them the error message you're having, they may be able to resolve the problem on their end.

Hope that helps! Please let me know if you continue to have trouble connecting.

I went thru steps 1 to 7 and got the old error message back again. No
luck. Did contact bank before about the problem, but I'll try again. Ron
