Imprort from Quicke Premier 2009
Hi -
I was trying the demo for import -
Not a single account imported correctly !!? Is there a filter or something else I need?
I did a year end so the Quicken export was limited to only 2010 data. There were so many errors, I gave up.
Ideas??

Please try following the instructions on importing from Quicken in the following article:

If you still have problems let me know the specifics and I will investigate.

Hi Ben -
Thanks for responding.
I read and followed the directions [best I could] the first time, but
repeated the process tonight to be dure. I found two errors as documented in
the attached PDF of the registers.
1. The import into Moneydance failed to set the correct starting balance. I
manually inserted this entry. This is a pain but not impossible to deal with
over the large number of accounts I use.
2, Moneydance inserted a random transaction [circled in red on the attached
PDF.] This is problem since I had to find it by comparing the two registers.
Also, it does not account for the total error, which means there are more to
ferret out.
Let me know if you have any ideas; I'm open to try stuff.
Rgds

HI Joe
I am sorry about the lateness of my response.
1) The initial balance of an account is not included in the QIF file. Some versions of Quicken include a transaction for each account to set the initial balance others do not. In such cases it is necessary to set the initial balance on the account in Moneydance manually. I am afraid that there is nothing we can do about this as it is a limitation of the QIF file format.
2) With regard to the additional transaction of $76.18 on 1/15 I think what has most likely happened here is that this transaction was originally part of a split in Quicken. Probably the one shown on the same date for $120. I have tested importing spits involving transfers produced by Quicken 2010. and they seem to work correctly. Perhaps the 2009 version of Quicken is exporting the split differently. If this is the source of the extra transaction I think they should only appear to be coming from split transfers. Splits that only involve income and expense accounts should be fine. Sorting your register by category and looking for transfers may help narrow down the search. If you look at the "SCA credit line - auto" account it may be easier to find such duplicates.
I am sorry for the trouble this is causing you.
Sincerely
Ben Spencer

Hi Ben -
Thanks for the follow up, but tracking down those duplicates, especially
over 25+ different accounts is quite a bit more than I want to tackle.
Drop me a note if this is ever fixed and I'll probably become a customer ...
Best -
