Error when setting up online banking
I just downloaded the trial version of MD today. When I try to set up new connections for Set Up Online Banking, I get the following error:
Error: java.net.SocketException: Permission denied: connect
I am running Windows 7 and have Java Version: 1.6.0_20, Java
Vendor: Sun Microsystems Inc.
2010 r3 (751) is the version of MD I have.
Please help! Thanks.

Hi kip,
Sunday's are the days when many financial institutions perform routine maintainance on their online banking servers. This can wreak havok on persons trying to update their accounts. Try again on a weekday.
If the problem continues, the Moneydance staff will probably need to know your specific bank name to further investigate your issue.

I figured it out. It was the default fire wall setting that my new Dell laptop came set with. When I turned it to a less restrictive setting it fixed the problem. Now if only I could get Bank of America to allow Direct Connection without charging me. :-(

Hi kip,
Glad to hear you up and running.
My bank informed me that they were going to start charging $4.95 a month for online access because they are now providing overdraft protection.
I explained to the branch manager that they are penalizing good clients for the actions of irresponsible ones.
Long story short, I closed my accounts. I realize, unfortunately, that this is not possible for a lot of people.

Kip,
I'm glad you hear you're up and running. I personally download and import OFX files from my bank because they charge $9.95/month for direct connect services, and my thrifty nature rebels. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,
