I am sorry for the confusion. The differences between Moneydance captured and what is available through Quicken is likely related to the different connection methods the two programs use. Quicken and Money support two methods of accessing your accounts: direct connect and web connect. With web connect, they basically connect to your bank's website and download and import OFX, QFX, QIF, and OFC files. Direct connect actually connects to a server at your bank instead of their website. From the user's perspective these two processes look basically identical. Moneydance only supports automatic connections through direct connect and not web connect.

The reason for the discrepancy in your account is that banks generally update their direct connect server information less frequently than they do the information available on their web connect service (I'm not entirely sure why). I believe that your Quicken accounts are likely using web connect services, hence the different results between Quicken and Moneydance. I personally experience this issue with my own bank, and sometimes find the delay frustrating. I am sorry to say I do not have any solutions to this issue (other than manually downloading and importing files from your bank's website, which will reflect the information available there), because this is really an issue with the bank's server.

I don't understand what you mean in regards to the check that had not cleared through Moneydance. Are you referring to Moneydance's bill pay service? If so, please do let me know what bank you are working with as well as the details of the date the payment was initiated and when it should have been issued.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

and import into MD. All the info that I use to connect to Quick is identical including
passwords in MD. I have this and looked over help in both. I know about the file from
web etc. Something is not right here. It was fine before. I mean several days passed since I got MD up and running. I have done a ton of cleaning up all the goofed up
Category stuff.

I have talked with Huntington National Bank on another issue and in talking about MD
he said that Huntington does not support MD but that does mean it would not work.

The bill pay I sent was sent to Quest Diagnostic in amount 8.74. I see that the date
in the register is Aug 3. I know for sure I sent that check at least 2days ago which means it was around July 30 or 29. Is that the reason?. I know with Quicken
when I write a check I see that thing cleared in several days. Its fast.

Not sure about all this. If i can not depend on the Program I will not buy. I really and
trully want to buy this program. Its on the Mac and eventually want to my finance stuff off the PC.

Larry

Larry Wykeltag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/24291852010-08-01T13:03:45Z2010-08-01T13:03:46ZBig Problems, deposits and check writing

Well I just did check on this stuff. I brought up the web page for Huntington logged in with the same id and password I use for both MD and Quicken and brought up the register page on the web. Got both MD and Quicken up with both registers showing.

Your right. The Quicken register has in entry for a resturant the I used Friday. That value
is in both the Huntington web register and in the Quicken register but is not
in the MD register. Man I was absolutely sure that both MD and Quicken were
using a direct access protocol to server at Huntington and had nothing to do with
a server that is used for the Huntington web page.

I think the Quest Diagnostic check is scheduled to go on 8/3. It shows this on the Web page. Could I have controlled this date when entering that in MD?

register in MD for a Dividend reinvestment in both Fidelity accounts

Larry Wykeltag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/24291852010-08-03T15:56:35Z2010-08-03T15:56:35ZBig Problems, deposits and check writing

Larry,

Are you manually importing a file into your Fidelity register because the transaction has not yet appeared in the direct connect transactions? It is likely the same issue with the direct connect server delay.

Yes, it is possible to control the date of online bill payments initiated through Moneydance, and you can find full instructions in the Moneydance 2010 user guide, which is located here. Many times you will be required to enter a payment date several business days in the future, this may be why the payment was scheduled for August 03.

The check written to Quest still has not shown up as cleared in Quicken or MD. But its got the 8/3 date so I am hoping
thats the issue. If it has not cleared say by 8/5 I think we have a problem

Now about the Fidelity stuff. I think I have found a problem thats common to both.

I just created another Problem on web disscussions.

Its the fact I have two Fidelity accounts a rollover account and a regulart.

When I login to Fidelity or do an update from Quicken I use on id and password.

I get info for both accounts.

Since MD imported the Quicken file it got most but something is wrong.

What happens it only gets the one Regular account but does not download any trans from the Rollover acoount like Quicken
does.

I go into help and it says you can setup Sub accounts but in the app its nowwhere to be found.

Accounts nummbers do not help. Maybe its due to fact the names between the two accounts are identical save for one character.

Anyway it cause big time problems for me to have to manually correct them

Yes the quest payment cleared fine one day after the 8/3 date. I did not put in that date
not sure what I did that time. I have created another problem issue on this topic.

I made a payment in fact on the same date 8/3. I made sure it matched the current date.
That check has not cleared yet. This the 8/7. With Quicken it would cleared by now.

Whats going on with this ?
