I recently did a clean install of 8.1. I need to recover an archive file to reenter data in moneydance. How do I do it?

    Hi brianjohn.waterman,

First things first; these are public forums. Never post or attach personal information or data to these forums. Delete the Family_Finance_2010.moneydancearchive file that you attached to your original post immediately!

To open the .moneydancearchive folder, rename it so that it has a .zip extension.
    e.g. Family_Finance_2010.zip

Unzip the file to reveal your data set.

If you need further help, post back with the version of Moneydance that you are using.

Again, delete the attached .moneydancearchive file immediately! Delete the entire post if necessary.

    bonnelly,

If you are marked as watching a thread you will automatically receive any responses to the thread as emails unless you specifically disable the feature.

Kevin made a post hence you received a copy.

    Hi Des,

Is it just on my end, or have we lost the ability to Edit posts here at Tender?

    Hi Kevin,

I haven't been looking but now that you mention I do not seem to be able to edit either, nor does there seem to be a delete (for if you really stuff up :)

    Hi Des,

Thanks for your reply. I actually wanted to Edit or Delete my initial reply but couldn't.

I hope that these inabilities are just an oversight of some sort.

I certainly thought Tender had these capabilities.

Certainly they could/would only work with authenticated users, but I know I'm using my login.

Here's a post from 2013 confirming that Editing was indeed possible @ Tender.

    Hi Kevin,

Ah yes, I remember seeing that "Split:" option, I thought it unusual when I first saw it.

Sounds like IK need to look at the options available and set them appropriately, although I'm a little surprised they would not already be available seeing as this is really the original forum with largely just a makeover.

    Hi Brian,

Someone from Moneydance Support deleted the attachment for you. Apparently forum members no longer have that ability which is really unfortunate.

We're you able to open the Family_Finance_2010.moneydancearchive file?

    Hi All,

Please excuse the limited functionality at this time. We are still in the transitional phase of moving back to these forums. I'll see if I can get the ability of forums members to edit their posts reinstated.

Thanks for deleting file. I tried the “change file to zip” idea but no success.

    Hi Brian,

Take a look at Chapter 18, pg. 98 of the 2015 Moneydance User Guide. It gives you step-by-step instructions on how to extract your data from the .moneydancearchive folder.
