Reconciled X's do not always appear in Transaction report.
Please find attached pics of my set up of the Transaction report and the report itself which is subtotaled by Payee (which is beside the point). I notice that the Cleared Transaction column sometimes has no X's where the transaction definitely is not in a split and has cleared in my register. What am I doing wrong or misunderstanding here? This report is the most complete report of Moneydance besides the Transaction Filter Report which doesn't seem to have this problem. I am in the beta 1182 build but this report has always done this behavior. Could Ben help me with this?
By the way, I am utterly impressed with the new look of Moneydance. I have had real problems before but now I think the UI is very pretty. This opens up a new world for me and Moneydance since aesthetics counts for me. Wonderful!

Hi Stephen
Your are configuring the transactions report to include all accounts. This means you will seem both sides of a transfer in the report.
All transactions in Moneydance are transfers. e.g. when you have an expense you enter a transfer from your checking account to the expense category.
When a transaction is marked as cleared that mark is only applied on one side of a transfer. Generally speaking there is no reason to mark transactions in expense registers as cleared. In your screenshot the first transaction is in the account "Stephens Checking" and is marked as cleared. The transaction on the other side of this transfer, the one in the expense register "Fitness:Payment" is not marked as cleared. This is the second transaction in your screenshot.
In short it only makes sense to look at the cleared status on a transaction when you are looking at transactions in a bank account.

Ben,
So, with so many choices of whether to check off all accounts or select individual categories, is what you are trying to say is that I should go for it in terms of customizing a transaction report but when it is not a bank account, get used to not seeing a reconciled transaction? Was there something fundamentally wrong with the way I filled out the edit screen showing I don't understand what you told me above or are you telling me that I should do what I want to do but ignore the reconciled column when bank accounts aren't involved? I like the transaction report the best because it has the transaction types and the reconciled items and more information to me than the other reports. That's why I want to learn how to use it. Hope this is clear.
