Peoples United log in fail
Greetings,
I have set up, successfully, the account and password for Peoples United Bank through my web browser (Firefox.) I cannot log in through Moneydance with the same credentials as it kicks out a Username/Password error. The bank is listed in Moneydance as having been set up.
Help.

As an addendum to the previous post, I did notice on one of the screens that the password was too long. Peoples told me that their allowable password length was anywhere from 8 to 32 characters.
Does Moneydance have a limitation? If so, could this be the culprit?

MJH,
As far as I know Moneydance does not have a password length limitation. Most financial institutions will require you to enable your accounts for application-based online banking. You can accomplish this by asking your bank to set up your account for connections from Quicken. Moneydance uses exactly the same OFX server connection protocol as Quicken but your bank representative may not know this and mistakenly believe that they do not support Moneydance. Calling up your bank and stating precisely the following should get you started. "Please enable direct connect on my account such that I can connect to your servers directly with Quicken. Also give me the login credentials I need to connect Quicken to this service."
Application-based online banking often requires a different login/PIN than the ones that are used for ATM or web-based banking. When you enable your account for access from Moneydance or Quicken, your financial institution should let you know what customer ID/login and PIN to use.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thanks for your interest in Moneydance!

Same here - No luck logging in to People's United - CT. (Get invalid ID/Password message). Their help desk told me they don't support Moneydance even after I said it uses the same protocol as Quicken. I have Quicken Essentials, and I am able to log in and download statements. Would like to try Moneydance to pay bills online (Quicken Essentials doesn't)

Still stalemated by Peoples United. They still only support Quicken even though Moneydance uses the same protocol. They told me I should use quicken but I transitioned over five years ago to Mac and I am not going back. Quicken on a Mac is a pure dog and I had to put it down...
Perhaps the good people at Moneydance could intervene since the customers of Peoples United appear to have zero clout?

Per Peoples United web site:
"Option 3 - Direct Connect Direct Connect provides a connection between your People’s United Bank account and Quicken / QuickBooks. It allows you to download your bank statements and pay bills right within your software without the need to login to peoples.com. You may find this useful if you wish to manage your bill payments from within Quicken / Quickbooks and are a regular user of the more advanced software features.
To access your accounts via Direct Connect, please follow these steps:
Have you followed these steps to establish the Direct Connect feature as supported by your FI?

Been There, Done That. All to no avail. Have been on phone with tech support at Peoples and it should all work but it doesn't. Tired of jumping through hoops...

Michael,
In your first post, you stated that you were using the same use ID and password in Moneydance that you use to log into the website. I believe that may be the source of your problem. People's United should have sent you a separate user ID and password to use with direct connect in Moneydance (or Quicken). If you use that new password, you should be able to connect.
