when importing QIF i can get double or triple of the same transaction.
I grab the qif from by bank but moneydance shows each transaction twice. When I upgraded to current each is now shown three times. What is the bug in the qif sort routine.

Ok, here is the multiples. I did not show the import page. This is my register
page.

Joe,
I noticed these transactions were all unconfirmed (the blue dot). Have you tried merging the transactions?
From the user's guide : Merge. Moneydance has identified a direct match to a transaction which already resides in your register. This usually means there was a match on the transaction date, description and/or amount. By accepting the Merge option you will, in effect, be deleting one of the transactions so that you have only
one entry in the register for this transaction.
You can read through the users guide for reviewing and accepting downloaded transactions.
Here is a link to the user's guide if you don't already have it: http://help.infinitekind.com/faqs/frequently-asked-questions-2/down...

Joe,
Does you financial institution support OFX downloads. This is a common format and each transaction is given an individual code which automatically deletes duplicates.
Every time you import a QIF it will bring in the same transactions and you will have to merge out the duplicates.

Jbergman,
While Moneydance doesn't currently have the option to "dump" undesired imported transactions, you can confirm the correct transactions, change the register view to "Unconfirmed", select all transactions by going through the "Edit" menu or using Ctrl+A, and delete the transactions. Good luck with the next attempt, and please do let us know if we can be of further assistance,

You last response simply says "No Content". If you are reply by email rather than in the forum you must put your response above the line at the top of the email. If not the support system will filter out the response.

Also you should go to preferences > network and click the auto merge downloaded transactions.
Also you may want to contact your bank about the availability of OFX downloads. Banks that do not support direct OFX connections may provide web-based downloads of transactions/statements from their web site.

Actually my qif download is based on their web interface. Each transaction
has a unique memo field but the import routine does not look at that field.
When I look at the account the the transactions are roughly grouped into
order. So at this point it is faster to just delete the entries manually so I can
get started. I will try the merge selection and see what happens on the next
import later this week.
Thanks for all your help to all who have posted on this thread.

Jbergman,
Yes, do let us know how the next import goes. I agree with Tom that OFX file download format is superior to the QIF format (from both a support perspective and from my experiences as a Moneydance user). Do let us know how it goes with the merge, and good luck!
