Reminders Problems
Using latest build of version 2015 on Windows 8.1. When I delete a reminder and restart the app, the reminder is gone. However, when I start the app the next time, it's back. How do you delete reminders in this version?
Also, whenever I go to record the transaction from Reminders and make any changes to the transaction (e.g. date, account), it records the transaction but not with the changes I've made.
Are there solutions to these problems?
Still disappointed with all the bugs in 2015. It's the reason I left Quicken for your product but I guess you've been bitten too :(

Hi jml,
What version are you using? This was an issue previously with MD 2015 and I can't quite remember when it was fixed. The current version to download is build 1175 but the preview version is at build 1204 and it is quite stable. I would advise installing that version - available at http://infinitekind.com/preview - and seeing if that doesn't fix the problem.

I don’t usually install betas but just installed the preview version and it did not fix the problem. “Flavia” is the reminder I can’t delete:

I, too, am having trouble with Reminders. I change the established reminders and the changes don't "take".

A minute or so after i posted, Jim's reply came through. I have build 1175.

It is not clear to me whether Jim is recommending 1175 or 1204. Lynn

Please try the latest preview build and let us know if the issue persists.
If the issues do persist please list the specific steps you are taking in deleting and editing the reminders.

Hi Tom,
There is another thread with similar issues.
http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/problems/15558-deleted-transactions-and-their-reminder-keep-coming-back
Don't know where this is coming from but I find it interesting that several folks are reporting similar problems at the same time.

I am not able to replicate this issue in my version of 1204.
Is this an issue with loan reminders? Changes to loans must be made by editing the loan account and the reminder will update.
For other reminders I need to know the specific steps you are taking in making the changes. This will help me in diagnosing the issue.

Can you post a screen shot of the reminder please.

Note that I can neither delete nor change this reminder. So that it wouldn’t blow up my overdue list, I changed it to yearly but it came back to everything Thursday. I can delete or change, then restart, and the deletion or change holds. It’s on the subsequent restarts (of the app) that it comes back.

Hi,
I am using an iMac and the version that downloads is 2015.3(1175). I don’t know what “build” is.
I just created a test reminder using “monthly” and it reverted to “weekly”! Something is broken.
Tom asked me for a blow by blow. I selected reminders, and the “+” and filled in the data and hit return, Quite straightforward.

Hello. I don't know if I just got lucky on this but I will mention my 'trick' anyway. I setup a reminder that I wanted gone. It seems to be gone (even after shutting down MD and restarting). I renamed the reminder something generic like 'test', deleted all the contents I possibly could (repeat date, amount, what it was for ...yada yada...) then - this is where it gets fun I think - I made the start and end dates the same. For my reminder called 'test' I moved it back to a date that wasn't going to screw me up... say... later in April... VOILA! I think it is no longer an 'active' reminder but rather a silly name on a date I don't care about. BTW - I am using build 967. With my OLDE version of UBUNTU 8.10 - I think MD has a little trouble putting in a newer version.
Cheers all and GOOD LUCK!

Hi Lynn,
Can you try upgrading to latest preview release of Moneydance from here:
http://infinitekind.com/preview
and see if that fixes the issue that you're seeing?

Good Morning,
No change in symptoms, unfortunately. The problem occurs in the reminders that MD created during the import from Quicken and with a new test reminder I created.
I assume that not every user of MD is experiencing this problem and that I am not the only Mac user. So, what is different about me? I have not, as yet, upgraded to Yosemite for one thing. Could that be a problem?

This preview version has locked up twice!!

I'm unclear as to what's happening here. If MD can reproduce the bug, why do you need to keep uploading versions to see if the issue is fixed for users? If MD can NOT reproduce the bug, what exactly is being 'fixed' by the developer? I think MD needs a test team, it would save you so much grief.

Hi Lynn,
I haven't heard reports of the preview version locking up, so that is definitely new. Could you try restarting your computer to see if that helps?
We have fixed some bugs related to deleted items re-appearing, but not all of them. We're still tracking down the last ones. I can let you know once a fix has been released.

Windows build 2015.4 (1213) continues to have the same problems I described in my original post.

We're still trying to track this bug down, but it's difficult because we haven't been able to reproduce it and it happens intermittently. Sorry it's taken us a while to fix this one! I'll get back to you once we have more updates.

This comment was split into a new discussion: Reminders Questions
Hi,
I have been downed by pneumonia for too long and need the best place to read the directions for MD. Things like how to specify the 8th of over month (every 30 days fails after the first year)?
Thanks, I see a light at the end of the tunnel. Hope it is not a train…..

I'm sorry for your sickness but please don't hijack this thread. Please create another post. Thanks and feel better.

Hi all,
I think we may have tracked down and fixed the cause of this problem in recent builds. If you update to the latest stable version of Moneydance, you should not see this issue re-occur:
http://infinitekind.com/downloads
However, you will need to manually repair your current data set. First, back up your data set. The easiest way to do that is by exporting an archive using the File->Export Archive menu item. Then, look in your console logs for any files that report a BadPaddingException error. Make a note of those files, and then close Moneydance. In your data set, delete the files you noted. When you restart Moneydance, you should not notice any data loss, but deleted items should now stay deleted.
Hope that helps. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thanks for using Moneydance.
