Saving data
When I try to save data or quit the programme, I cannot save the data. I get the message -
Error making backup: java.io.FileNotFoundException: /Volumes/BACK-UP/Backups.backupdb/John Kenton-Page (2)/2010-09-14-203248/Mac HD/Users/johnkenton-page/Private Finance/J R K-P.md-2010-09-15 (Permission denied)
Clearly, if I cannot save the data, the programme is useless.
I have tried reloading the programme, but that did not cure the problem.

Kevin is correct that this is likely the issue. If it is not, please let me know, and include the OS and versions of Java and Moneydance you are running.

Angie,
Yes, that resolved the issue but I have access and always have had access to that file and it has saved to that folder since I started using the programme. The data in Moneydance is obviously vital and I am now concerned that I may find myself in this situation again.
The OS is 10.6.4. ; Moneydance 2010r3 (751); Java SE6

John,
The "my documents folder" is specifically designed for this use and you should have problem saving to this folder.
