Line of Credit Accounts
Posted by ronroberts on February 01, 2010 @ 04:50 PM posted a solution for downloading/importing Line of Credit transactions if your bank supports Direct Connect, OFX downloads. But Navy Federal Credit Union does not support direct connect, so I download my transaction in QFX format, like in Ron Roberts example my Line of Credit has the same account number (which I have setup as a Credit Card Account) as my linked checking account. Problem is that when I try to import the downloaded QFX file, the drop down selection only offers my bank accounts as an option for importing into and I cannot select the Line of Credit account because it is setup as a credit card account. The only way I can think of getting around this is to delete my Line of Credit account and create a new one as a bank account that will have a negative balance, but that removes it from being included in the extension Payoff!, any suggestions?

William,
This particular issue is caused by Moneydance being overzealous in protecting you from importing files to the wrong accounts. I believe this has been resolved in the (stable for use but not widely released yet) beta build 752. If you'd like to try the update and see how it goes for you the download is available here. I personally use 752 and was able to import a QIF file tagged as a bank account into a credit card account in Moneydance.
Let me know how it goes, and do let us know if we can be of further assistance,

I was able to a QIF import work, but a QFX import (which has more account information, e.g. account balance and statement date) still will not allow file tagged as a bank account to be imported into a credit card account.

William,
This is very useful information for us to have, and I've passed it on to our developers. Hopefully this should be resolved in future builds of Moneydance. Thanks for your help in trying out this new feature!
