multiple currencies in MoneyDance

I'm running MoneyDance 2007 and there seems to be a glitch in how it deals with multiple currencies.

For example, when I enter a category who's currency type is EUR into an account who's currency type GBR (and I select the exchange rate myself to match the rate used by my bank on the day), it only SOMETIMES lists the proper EUR amount when I view the listings for that category (more often than not, the figure listed is neither the GBP figure nor the EUR figure, but something else altogether).

I have tried reentering data in case the exchange rate was somehow compromised (by the automatically downloaded rate), but nothing seems to work. I am considering upgrading to most recent MoneyDance in case this is a glitch that has since been repaired, but I do worry that it's not and I don't know what will happen to my current MoneyDance files if I decide not to purchase MoneyDance 2010 after installing it...

I just realised what MoneyDance is doing - it is taking the GBP figure in the GBP currency-type account and using THIS figure to convert to EUR in the category listing, and this is what causes the new, mystery figure (but it doesn't always do this).

    Charles,

I think it's certainly worth trying the Moneydance 2010 (or even Moneydance 2008) free trial. As for your data file in the process- first, make sure you have a good, up to date backup of your data file. Moneydance 2010 uses a new type of data file which cannot be opened by earlier versions of Moneydance, BUT it does offer an export in the Moneydance 2008 format so it's not impossible to go back. My suggestion it to make a copy of your data file, play around with Moneydance 2010 to see if you like it, and then make a decision. This way you can either a) keep the work you've done on your data file with the new program or b) go back to Moneydance 2007 with your data exactly as it was before.

Good luck, and please let me know if I can be of further assistance,
