On line access issue
I have a problem with both a setting up my Citi mastercard and
checkfree bill pay. In both cases when I try to se them up I get
the message "The given customer ID or PIN is not valid. For more
information contact your financial institution. Additional;
information from the server.""
This makes no sense. I logged on to Citibank just prior to
attempting the setup and I just set up my checkfree account so I(
know the ID/PIN are correct?????

Davier,
Most financial institutions will require you to enable your accounts for application-based online banking. You can accomplish this by asking your bank to set up your account for connections from Quicken. Moneydance uses exactly the same OFX server connection protocol as Quicken but your bank representative may not know this and mistakenly believe that they do not support Moneydance. Calling up your bank and stating precisely the following should get you started. "Please enable direct connect on my account such that I can connect to your servers directly with Quicken. Also give me the login credentials I need to connect Quicken to this service."
Application-based online banking often requires a different login/PIN than the ones that are used for ATM or web-based banking, as it uses a different server at your bank. When you enable your account for access from Moneydance or Quicken, your financial institution should let you know what customer ID/login and PIN to use.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

Just an update on what I have found
1) The Shell Mastercard from Citi DOES NOT offer transaction download as
a service. Shell did not want this when they renewed the contract.
2) I can not get an answer from Checkfree. They say I was getting the
invalid ID message because I did not have a bill pending, I do not really
believe that is the reason, but I could get no father with them. I will try
again when I get another bill.

Dave,
Thanks for the updates. I've found that many of the "branded" credit cards do not offer OFX direct connect, and I'm quite interested to see how things go with Checkfree. I hope you'll let us know what happens when you try to connect again. Good luck, anddo let me know if I can be of further assistance,

One final thing regarding what I found on Checkfree. The online
"Mycheckfree" will not support uploaded payments from MoneyDance or any
other software for bill payment. This application is only webbased and does
not have the capability for receiving uploads. Also you can only use it to
pay ebills which also limits its flexibility. Even though checkfree
processes bill payments for Quicken and Money the software is different than
what the non Quicken/Money customers have. So the short answer is MoneyDance
while compatible with he Quicken links, can not be used for bill pay unless
the recipient financial institution offers direct connect. I bet you already
knew this!!
