Lot-matching improvements
This comment was split from the discussion: Lot-matching securities doesn't work anymore in MD2015
Ian,
While you¹re working on lot-matching, I have some
suggestions that would
make it much easier for users and I think they wouldn¹t be too
difficult to
implement. Here are some buttons that could be added to the
lot-matching
window:
- Start over (i.e. Clear all lot assignment for this security)
- Radio buttons for Use short term, use long term, use either
- Minimize/Maximize cap gains for this sale (these buttons would
automatically assign lots to accomplish the choice respecting the
long
term/short term option above
These buttons would still allow manual entry, but would just make it easy to
pre-fill the allocation.
Thanks for considering, David

Running, 2014.5 (980), I just fixed slew of errors where I could not get lot share allocation counts to accept.
--> I noticed that for the particular Accounts that always return errors when I try to match lots, the entries in the Shares Available list were NOT in chronological order.
I deleted and re-entered each of the transactions that was NOT in chronological order. Upon return to the Match Lots screen, the accounts were now IN ORDER, and my entered share allocations were accepted.
I have no idea how they got to be out of order.
Hope this helps.

I would also like options for LIFO and FIFO allocation of lots. My broker won't allow individual allocation of lots for 1099 reporting purposes, so I'm stuck with LIFO or FIFO.
Thanks
