Moneydance doesn't seem to want to let me change the opening balance of an investment account. I had moved all my data from MS Money and then got rid of the associated Cash account, but the opening balane needs adjusting and I can't seem to change it.

    batwell,
Go to the Prtfolio View of the brokerage account in question. From the Menu bar click on Account > Edit Account... In the resulting form, edit your Initial Balance:
    Hope this helps. -Kevin

    batwell,

Kevins description of how to change the initial balance is correct (Thank you Kevin). Did this resolve your problem? Do you need further assistance?

    Sincerely

    Ben Spencer

Weel, no it didn't resolve the issue, but I have since totally changed things and now I can't recreate the problem. I had a very large and convoluted MS Money file and followed the directions carefully but there were numerous translation problems, mostly with investment accounts. I don't think MD was to blame but more MS Money and me. I have since decided to start from a truly clean slate but only from the beginning of this year. This involves a lot of tedious work but I'm sure it will be worth it.. ( I am about 95% done at this point.)

    Thanks for your help.

    Bob.
