Income and Expense report not accurate

I am having a problem running the income and expense report. When I try to run the report, choosing year to date and grouping by the month, the program is not picking up any of the prior months income. It will report through October accurately, but all items for November report as zeros (interest, dividends). Have you heard of this problem?

I have my I&E report set up by month and am not experiencing this problem. I am currently showing full data for both November as well as the transactions that have already occurred in Dec. I also checked the data against my Budget report to see if it looked like any transactions were missing and the two reports match up.

What happens if you select "last month" as the Date for the report (so you can just view November)? Does any data show up? Are you sure you have everything classified correctly (i.e. the transactions have the correct dates and categories)?

    Bill,

Would you please let me know the version of Moneydance you are using, your OS, and the version of Java you are running? This information is available in the Help->About Moneydance menu. I would also advice doing what Jbnyt suggested and trying to run a report for only November to see if the data is mis-categorized or otherwise problematic.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

Thank you for your suggestion. I rechecked and found my problem is due to operator error. As I am new to Mondeydance, just converting from MS Money, I am not used to how to enter transactions from my investment accounts. I had chosen "Dividend" under the Action column and thought that was enough. However when I looked into it, I see I have to enter the category Investment Dividend as well. I guess I figured choosing the correct action was enough- seems like a duplication of effort but I have found my problem. Thank you.

    Hi Bill,

seems like a duplication of effort

The choice that the user makes in the 'Action' field determines which fields of the txn become 'live' so that only the appropriate fields can be edited.
It's actuallly very similar to how MS Money's Transaction Form operated. When you chose 'Dividend' certain fields become not available.
