I just downloaded Moneydance and I'm trying to set up online banking; however, I am getting an Invalid signon error. My bank, Easthampton Savings, is listed as one of the supported institutions. I tried calling them and they said they only support Quicken. Are they really not supported or is this just a fluky log in problem?

Easthampton Savings employees may not have heard of Moneydance because we are not as widely adopted by users as Quicken and MS Money however Moneydance is quite capable of connecting to their server even if they are not familiar with our software. Moneydance connects in exactly the same way as Quicken and MS Money using a standard protocol.

Some Banks do not have the direct connection service enabled for all bank accounts by default. In such situation is it necessary to contact them and ask them to enable direct connect on your account; If they do not believe they support Moneydance it is necessary to lie and tell them that you are using Quicken. Saying the following usually stimulates the banks employee to perform the appropriate actions:

"Hi, please enable Direct Connect for my bank account such that I can directly connect to your server with Quicken. Also give me the log in credentials for this service."

It is necessary to ask for the login credentials (user name and password) as they are often different from those used to log into the banks web site.

I am sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you.

    Sincerely

    Ben Spencer

Thanks Ben, but I do think they have direct connection enabled. I'm evaluating financial software to purchase and one other product (not quicken or ms money) connected with no problem or calls to the bank. I'll call anyway but I have to wait for business hours to see if this will help.

I called. ESB enabled the account and it's still not working.

    Devo,

I have verified that the connection is working. Have you verified both that you are using the correct login information and that your account is enabled for Direct Connect?

If you try to set up your account and the login fails, that means that Moneydance is connecting to your bank (our part of the equation). So it seems that either your account still isn't enabled or the login information isn't correct. I understand that this can be frustrating.
