PNC requires that you enroll in their Online Banking through Quicken program before you are able to connect. You'll need to activate this service on their website. Once enrolled, you should be able to connect through Moneydance, as we use the same protocol as Quicken does.
If you continue to have problems after enrolling, or are already enrolled, please let me know and we'll continue troubleshooting.

Sorry I didn't know I needed to state this. I am considering switching to MD from Q, so yes, I'm already set up in Q and have been for a very long time.

There are two methods that personal finance software can use to access your accounts: direct connect and web connect. With web connect, the software basically connects to your bank's website and downloads and imports OFX, QFX, QIF, and OFC files automatically. Direct connect actually connects to a server at your bank instead of their website and usually requires different login credentials than you would use to log into your banks website. Moneydance only supports automatic connections through direct connect and not web connect. Quicken supports both. Unless you have explicitly enrolled in direct connect at PNC, you're probably using web connect. You'll need to enroll in direct connect to connect through Moneydance.
Sorry for the long description, but I just wanted to make sure that you've definitely enrolled in direct connect before proceeding. The error message you mentioned frequently indicates that the account is not enabled for direct connections, which is why I ask.

Any idea how I would check to see which one I'm using? I'm pretty sure it's DC.

I would guess that, since they allow you to enroll online, you can probably see whether or not you are already enrolled online. Their directions say to click on the Customer Service tab and select the Quicken Enrollment link. That should give you some information. Also, banks usually charge a monthly fee for direct connection access. I'm not sure if PNC does, but if you're paying a fee like that, they you definitely have access.
Alternatively, you could call them and ask if you account is activated. If you talk to them, be sure that they know you're asking about direct connect and not web connect.

I am indeed on DC.

Ok, if you're activated that that error could be due to a number of other things. The first thing to check is to make sure that all of your account information is entered correctly in Moneydance. A typo in the account number or routing number can sometimes cause problems. Also, you might want to try resetting your password with them and then logging in through Moneydance using the new password. Sometimes that can clear up an error.

AAAAAAUGH! OMG! I work with multiple banks every day. I can't believe I
reversed the routing number and the account number. Umm, can we completely
delete this thread to hide my embarrassment?

It's OK, I've certainly made mistakes like that in the past. At least now it's working, instead of having to go the next level of the "guess what's wrong" game!
Let me know if you have any other troubles, and thanks for using Moneydance.
