Find and Replace All for securities field in Investments
I've been looking for ways to do a find and replace all from one security to another but none of the built in or external tools seem to provide this capability
i'm needing to do this because of this scenario:
i have a fund called Fidelity Select Natural
for some reason, when i download the transactions, the broker calls
the fund OFUR (for whatever reason) and moneydance therefore
doesn't find a match and creates a new security called OFUR. so, i
thought that by changing all the downloaded OFUR transactions to
Fidelity Select Natural and then renaming OFUR to OFURBAD and
renaming the Fidelity Select Natural to OFUR that next time i
download transactions, it would find OFUR and i'm fine. the only
downside is that my fund is called OFUR instead of Fidelity Select
Natural. I'm willing to live with that but it didn't work. instead,
moneydance now downloads the transactions to OFURBAD now.
ANy ideas?

There is no way to batch change the security name. You can sort the register by security name then edit the security by double clicking on the security field and selecting the correct name. Be careful, sometimes doing this can change the share price to the current share price of the fund you select.
When downloading, if given to option when it says OFUR and asks which security to assign it to you can pick the correct one, or edit it while reconciling, be aware that editing the name may change the share price. And you may have to change that back to the correct price.
