I'm trying to figure out how to integrate Investment purchases (transfers from Bank account to investment account) in my Income and Expense Report. I've played with the Edit feature quite a bit once I run the report but cannot get these transactions to show up. However, the Budget Status graph at the top actually integrates these purchases as expenses.

A transfer is neither an income nor expense, that is why it is not showing up. Have you looked at the transaction report? The budget report records it because you told it to look out for transactions in this category.

What is the purpose you intend? Another report may be more suited.

I would like to record my security purchases as an expense since, after the
purchase, it is no longer liquid cash.

Report I'm looking for is something exactly like the Income and Expense
Report but with Security purchases integrated as expenses. Looked at the
transaction report, and from what I could glean, it doesn't really achieve
that end but gives me a list of ALL transactions for a specified period of
    time.

The income and expense report in the next version of Moneydance has a new option in the report options to "Show transfers to or from non source accounts". If you specify that you don't want to include the investment account in the source accounts list for the report, transfers to that account will be included in the list.

This isn't exactly what you are looking for but it will be close. While I cannot say for sure when the release will happen the next release is getting very imminent.
