I downloaded Moneydance and when I try to install it the window that says preparing install wizard sits there a long time. Then i get another window that says "The Java VM could not be started. Please restart the installation. You may use the parameter manual to download or manually select a different VM."
I'm not sure what I need to do?

    Hi melissa,
To assist the Moneydance Support Staff in helping you, provide the following:
Operating system and version (32 or 64-Bit)
    Version of Java installed.

    Melissa,

Yes, it would be very helpful for us to know this, as well as the version of Java you are running. This will help us to diagnose the issue.

    Hi Melissa,
If Windows 7 is anything like other versions of Windows, then right click on 'My Computer' and choose 'Properties'. The resulting form should give you the version of Windows you're using.
As for Java, look in the Control Panel for a 'Java' applet. Open the applet and click the 'About...' button. If you open a Command Prompt (DOS Window) you can type in "java -version'' (without the quotes) This willl also give you the version of Java installed on your machine.

I have Windows 7 32 bit. I looked for the Java verision but all I can see is the updates. I can't find the actual Java program. The last update I got was Java (TM) 6 update 20.

    Hi Melissa,

Do you have any better luck installing the "without Java" version? You can download it from our website at: http://moneydance.com/download/2010/installers/MoneydanceInstall.exe
