Hi
I downloaded the fix. I am using OSX 10.6.6 and Java 1.6.0_22. It doesn't work for me. It looks as if it does but after scrolling through categories for a couple of seconds, the category window simply disappears!
HELP!
What is the best way to reload a stable version?
Many thanks
Tony

    Hi Tony

Where is the mouse pointer when you are trying to scroll. If it is over the categories in the list then it should scroll the list. I have not been able to reproduce the problem if I have the pointer in the category list.

Although if you use the scroll wheel over the top "Split" button panel (which isn't scrolled) then the category popup disappears.

    Hi Ben

It is in the category window in the list of categories. The same thing happens if I scroll the side bar 'blue' slider. The only way I can scroll the list is to go to the very bottom of the category window and that forces the categories to scroll with no problem, much like the country selection when web ordering! Also can scroll by holding the side bar blue slider with the middle of the mouse and moving the mouse. But flicking / scrolling the middle of the mouse - the window still disappears.

    Hope this helps.

Many others have reported that 756 has resolved this issue and I am not able to reproduce the problem you are describing with this build. Can you please verify that you are running build 756 by running Moneydance and selecting Help->Console Window.

How can one get the 756 update. Updater extension doesn't see it. I have 751. Scroll wheel doesn't work at all for Category dropdown. Kills it eveytime I try to scroll.

    Thanks

    Hi All,

Try upgrading to build 757. I believe it fixes this issue completely. You can download the update for your platform from our website at: http://moneydance.com/preview/757/

Thanks that did fix the issue for me. How can one keep up with the latest updates? The updater extension sure didn't work for this one even though I had it set for preview versions.

I am sorry for the confusion.

Build 756 is not a new preview build of Moneydance. It is build 751 plus a new package of security certificates for making direct OFX connections. We also back ported a fix for the highly annoying mouse wheel bug related to the category selector because so many people wanted it. 756 does not contain any of the new feature or other bug fixes that have been implemented since 751.

It was necessary to make this release for a relatively small number of users who could no longer connect to their banks because the banks had changed their security certificates.

We chose not to make this a preview release because we know there are quite a number of people who are waiting patiently for the actual preview release and we did not want to disappoint them.

We are tantalizingly close to having the new preview released. I am sorry to keep you all waiting.

    Hi Jessica

Clicking the 'cheque' box next to the date causes it to vanish straight away as well. I have to click and hold to get the drop down to stay open. Here is a shot of the category window in the 'new transaction' window. The same problem occurs when using the 'root account' drop down in the side bar too!
    Hope this helps

    Hi Tony,

The Check box problem is actually a different bug that we've been trying to work on. However, I'm still not sure why you're getting the other bug. Are you sure the upgrade worked and that you are now running build 757? You can check your console to make sure.

    Hi namput,
Tabbing into those fields, then using the up and down arrow keys on the keyboard works well. Bypassing use of the mouse may speed up data entry .

    Hi Tony,

I'm still unable to reproduce this problem. I've asked a couple of our other support staff to see if they can find the problem. I'll let you know what they say. In the meantime, do you have another mouse you could test this with? It would be good to rule out hardware problems.

This scrolling fix is really only a partial fix. If the mouse cursor strays outside the bounds of the popup, the popup will still be hidden. We're looking for a fix to this, but for now at least the scrolling will work if the mouse cursor stays inside the popup bounds.

    Hi Jessica

I have tried my Wacom Mouse - scrolls NO PROBLEM. When I use the Mac Buttonless Mouse if I scroll in the category pop up window, TAG or root account pop up windows, IT VANISHES! Not insurmountable, but a major pain!

In the 'Chq' and 'Description' popups, they will not even stay on screen unless I keep the left mouse button held down! Again, Wacom Mouse - NO PROBLEM! Come to think of it, maybe they are meant to behave like that, I'm so lost as to the correct behaviour for thinking about it!

Can any Mac user suggest Mac Mouse Settings that might help?

    Cheers

    Hi Tony,

Since the problem seems to only happen when you use the Buttonless Mouse, I'm inclined to say that this is a hardware issue and not something we can fix in Moneydance. I'm not sure what settings you could use to fix this. Hopefully someone with this mouse can chime in and help.

Sorry for the trouble. Please let us know if you discover anything to fix this.

I use an iMac with Apple's Magic Mouse which has no buttons and the scrolling works as long as the mouse cursor is over the popup list. Can you confirm whether your cursor is over the list when you are scrolling?

    Hi Tony,

As near as we can tell, the issue here seems to be with your mouse and not with Moneydance. There is a known bug where the scrolling popup disappears if you scroll when the mouse if not over the popup. However, we are unable to reproduce a situation where the popup disappears and the mouse is over the popup. Since you say it works fine when you use a different mouse, I'm inclined to believe that there is something wrong with your buttonless mouse. Unfortunately, we can't provide support for your hardware.

I'm sorry for the trouble. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thanks for your interest in Moneydance!

Hi I can confirm that it still an issue for me. I have a Macbook, and when entering a new transaction, if I click on the arrow in the cheque# box, unless I hold the click down the list disappears. If I click and hold I can select the correct option

As I mentioned earlier, the bug in the check# dropdown is known and has yet you be fixed. The bug that was fixed in 757 was a problem with scrolling in the category selection popup. Can you please confirm that the bug you are experiencing is the check# bug and not the scrolling bug?
