Resizing a column also resizes its neighbour

I have scanned these forums and cannot find anyone else having this problem so maybe it's only a problem to me.

It is really frustrating when attempting to reduce or enlarge a column, that the next column also resizes by the same amount instead of the whole fixed-size column elastically following the dividing line of the column you wish to resize. I don't believe this should happen. Any plans for getting this fixed?

    Hi

I see your point. The downside to resizing the columns in the way you describe is that it would be possible to have the sum of the width of all the columns greater than the width of the window. You would then need a horizontal scroll bar to see all the data. Currently the columns are implemented in such a way that if the window is made smaller the column width is adjusted proportionally such that a horizontal scroll bar is not necessary.

I have attached a suggestion ticket to this discussion that proposes changing the column behaviour to the method you have described. By posting in this discussion you have voted for the ticket.
