categorizing transactions/ account info in wrong accounts/ cannot reconsile
Firstly, I jumped onto moneydance trial the day before an
important legal conference on fiscal issues. I had been using
Mint.com for a year, and after much much much frustration, and in
the 12th hour, decided to scrap Mint and try something new.
I quickly downloaded my accounts onto Moneydance and spent at least
12 hours categorizing expenses dating back to 2009.
I was happy enough with the reports I was able to generate for the
trial, however, now, a day later, I realize that I could have
downloaded seperate financial accounts into separate accoounts on
Moneydance. In other words, I downloaded three checking accounts
into one moneydance checking accounts and found I had to finagle
alot with all the transfer debits and credits.
I tried fixing it this morning by deleting the mondo checking
account and re-importing the data, but that deleted all the
transaction categorizing i had done. I need to be able to delete
the data, while keeping the account open with all it's memorized
transaction categorizing so that the new data will filter in
properly when imported.
or should i delete the data and then try to reconsile it????
(I am one of those pesky Citibank users and as such, was not able
to get Moneydance to direct connect for reconsilliation purposes
and can only import downloaded data)
I was so frustrated with Mint, I would like to finally be satisfied with this new program.
Please help.

If I understand you correctly you have imported 3 transaction files into a single Checking account in Moneydance and you would like to move those transactions into 3 separate checking accounts.
The first thing I would do would be to create the other checking accounts in Moneydance.
Then go into the checking account that contains the transactions. Select all the transactions that should go into account A. You can select Multiple transactions by holding down ctrl while you select transactions. Then right click on the select transactions and select Batch Change->Account then select the account you want to move these transactions into from the popup list. repeat for the other accounts.
Sincerely
