I don't even know where to start.

My online banking is so inaccurate!! Everything seems to be from checking, but is dispersed between savings and checkings, and is making my balances WAY OFF!!!!... :-(

Does anyone know how to make the online statements accurate?? I can't even figure out how to take a transaction that's a checking transaction out of a savings transaction to put it back where it belongs... HELP!!

Thank you :-/

Are you saying that when you download from your bank everything ends up in one account? If so, you may have a mapping issue. See this thread http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/switching-to-moneydance-fr... starting with post 4 and 5. If not, can you give more detail about what is happening?

    Hi Joseph,

I see that forum member jbnyt has beaten me to the punch.

The first item you should tackle is; Why are your checking account transactions dispersed between your checking and savings accounts?
This issue sounds like a mapping problem. The following was posted by forum member Oilcan. In his example, he uses E-Trade accounts, just exchange E-Trade with your checking and savings accounts.
    -Begin Copy-
Your accounts are not mapped properly (in other words, one E-Trade account is pointing to each of your Moneydance accounts).

Disable the Online Set-up for the problem accounts. Then you will need to re-enable them. Once you have entered your ID and Password click Ok and wait (do not click next). You need to see a window that will display - "Please choose the account you wish to use" - which are your E-Trade accounts listed in a drop down list. If you bypass this window - your Moneydance Account will map to the first account on this list. Sometimes you will need to just wait for this window to pop-up as it can take several seconds. If you click Next you will likely bypass this important window. Believe me I am speaking from experience.
    Oilcan
    -End Copy-

To move the errant transactions from your savings account to your checking account will require what is called a 'Batch Change'
Always make sure that you have a recent backup of your data file before using 'Batch Change'. Batch Change is a powerful tool. If a mistake is made using Batch Change with multiple txns selected, things can get messy in a hurry.

Access your Savings account register and Select (Highlight) all of the transactions that you want to move to your Checking account. Right click any one of them, choose 'Batch Change', then 'Account'. Choose your Checking Account from the resulting drop-down list. This will move all of the hightlighted txns into your Checking account.

Okay, I'm going to recheck my account routing... but I do believe that I have successfully chose savings for saving and checking for checking. The weirdest thing of all is my account balances are way off. If I click the bottom balance it has both my accurate balance that is online, and my inaccurate balance that is on the program. I feel so overwhelmed with this issue :-/

It doesn't even get all of my transactions, it pulls randoms.. I have Chase as my bank, is this a common issue.

To have an example lets say this:

if my account balance was actually:

     $15,000.00

When I sync transactions it shows a minimal amount of transactions that add up to an inaccurate amount. This usually results in an account balance of:

    - $10,000

When I push the balance button on the bottom corner of the application it shows the balance to be the -$10,000, but also shows the accurate balance from online???

How do I fix this problem?? Is this usual??

    Hi Joe,
This may be just a matter of setting the initial balance so that the balance in your register reconciles with your banks balance. Access your Checking account, then from the Menu bar, click on 'Account' then 'Edit Account'. In the resulting form you can set the initial balance. Do the same for your Savings account.
Remember too that most financial institutions will make available only a few months worth of data for direct connect downloads. Any prior txns would have to be entered manually from statements. These prior txns may account for your imbalance in Moneydance.
