I have saved off my original post and will repost it as a separate topic. I have found several issues with the forum software, as part of the conversation below shows.

I can't see the edit and delete buttons for my own posts, even when logged in.

If I hit the preview button, I get the preview popup, but then can't close it, so I have to navigate away from the page (losing all my typed comments for that post)

And please, add an edit button to "own posts" so I can go back and fix the markup!! :)

When you're logged into the forum the 'Edit' option is offered.

It would appear that this problem is now IE9 specific. I have just upgraded Firefox to 4.01 and the site now appears normal - even the preview window works properly. IE9 version 9.0.8112.16421 still doesn't display the edit/split/remove items properly though.

    Hi dave,
Does it help if you put http://help.infinitekind.com into Trusted sites list of IE 9?

no, sorry Kevin, nice idea though. I added *.infinitekind.com to trusted sites and logged back in - still no options showing. I even tried setting the security to low for the zone, that didn't work either.

I can use Firefox for the site, but anyone else with IE9 may have the same problem and not realize it. If they haven't ever seen the buttons, they might post a question like "And please, add an edit button to "own posts" so I can go back and fix the markup!! :)"

I have both monitors filled with little windows now, digging into this problem further, I'm comparing the files received by Firefox against those received by IE and I may have found the problem.
These are the files downloaded (less the images):

      Firefox:-
      frontend-datauri.css 71,461
      frontend.js 211,365
      ga.js 27,026
      safari.css 602

       IE :-
      frontend-datauri.css 101,401
      frontend.js 211,365
      safari.css 495

The difference between the frontend-datauri.css is that firefox has a compressed version (all carriage returns and empty lines are suppressed). IE doesn't get ga.js at all, but the two copies of frontend.js are identical.

The problem comes, of all places, in safari.css ! While the Firefox version doesn't have the following, the IE version contains this line right at the top of the file:

      .admin-functions ul.actions ul {
          margin-bottom: 0px;
      }

The attached zip file contains the css files from both browsers, as well as the script that Firefox gets and IE doesn't

Adding another item here, since this is also forum related:

At the top of each thread are a couple of shortcuts, on this thread they are: Home → Problems → . These lead to different pages where "Problems" is the group that this post is in (http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/problems), and "Home" is the root page for the site (http://help.infinitekind.com). The missing link is the top page for the forums (http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions) which most forum users would use to get from one group to another.

Could this be included in the menu above, so avoiding having to go to the home page each time just to switch to another forum group?

Look to the header at the very top of the forum page, the 'Public Discussions' link is up there. Unless of course IE 9 doesn't display that either.

    Hi Kevin,

Thanks for pointing that out - I've been clicking on "home" and then drilling back down again each time. The link you pointed out is visible in IE9, but it would be nice to have the link in the proper place in the "you are here" menu too, in line with other forums

    MD Support Staff,
According to the following article at The Windows Blog, Microsoft will begin automatic upgrades to MSIE 9 for Vista and Win 7 users.
    http://windowsteamblog.com/ie/b/ie/archive/2011/12/15/ie-to-start-a...

The problems brought up in post # 1 by the OP dave still persists when using MSIE 9 on these forums. I would imagine that this automatic upgrade to MSIE 9 is only going to exacerbate the problem for many Tender users.
Is there any update on the fix for these issues?

    Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the bump. We'll get in touch with Tender (both on their forums and privately) to see if we can find out what's up. Hopefully the automatic updates will motivate them to fix the IE9 issues.

    I too posted at Tender.
Tender Support Staffer Amanda replied the following:
Unfortunately I don't have any updates on the ticket. It looks like it is scheduled in our next round of big fixes.
I just last night upgraded to MSIE 9. I don't really like it, compared to MSIE 8, it's kind of aweful. I have to now switch to Chrome when ever I'm posting to these forums.
    Oy vay!

Just an update from my side - I'm now on Firefox 9.0.1 and everything appears to be working fine. IE 9.0.8112.16421 however, still has the problem.

I can dump the scripts and re-compare them if that would help?

    Hi Dave,

Since the problem is with our service provider, it might be better to offer debugging help to them. I would just be forwarding your information anyway. You can find the discussion about this issue on their website at: https://help.tenderapp.com/discussions/problems/3941-cant-leave-pre...

Adding infinatekind.com to the 'Compatiblitiy View' list in MSIE 9 resolves the issues discussed in this thread.

    Different problem with forum.
The dates indicating the last update to a particular folder are frequently wrong, often by months. So, for instance, the quicken folder might show no updates in a month, but there actually are current updates.

    Hi Kit,
I noticed that same behavior. I can't say for certain when it started happening but I feel that it has been months.
I never reported on it as I thought the anomaly was on my end. It's somewhat comforting to hear that others are also experiencing this issue.
This anomaly however does not appear to be browser specific. I can recreate this issue on MSIE 8, MSIE 9 and the latest ilk of Google Chrome.

I've noticed this in the past as well, though I'm not seeing it right now on our forums. However, it is happening on the Tenderapp forums, interestingly enough. Are you all seeing it incorrect dates on the Moneydance forum right now, or remembering it from the past?

    Hi Jessica,
At this moment, it appears to be behaving pretty much as expected. However I'm not seeing any information with regards to the most recent post for the 'Bugs' forum. The area where it would normaly display is blank.
It is absolutely an ongoing issue.
At least the MSIE 9 rendering and Preview issues seem to be resolved.

Don't know if this is a related issue, but looking at the bottom of the page where Recent Discussions / Recent Articles box resides the Recent Discussions listings are often from many months ago. As an example, right now I have a discussion on Address Book vCards from 20 Nov 16:53 and Appropriate Forum from 17 Mar 12:32 showing up in the listing.
