Change in "orange diamond" cleared/uncleared totals behavior in reconciling window in MoneyDance 2011 (790) for OS X - UNLIKE!
Version being used: MoneyDance 2011 (790) for OS X (Mac)
Hello,
First time reconciling my checking account in the new Money Dance (which I've used and really liked for over a year) and there is a behavior change I really dislike -
Path:
a. Open account
b. apple key- B to reconcile
c. enter starting and ending balance, statement date, hit OK
d. "Reconcile Account - xxx Checking" opens, with appropriate range
of transactions marked w/ orange diamond/"reconciling
===> NEW BEHAVIOR - "Cleared" and "Uncleared" under both payments and deposits show as $0.00, and don't change whether or not you mark or unmark any/all transactions.
WHY is this a problem?
On the rare occasion that the "Difference" field is $0.00 - it
doesn't matter.
However, more frequently there is some small discrepancy (usually
human error, a duplicate that slipped in or something like
that).
In these cases I usually go through a process similar to the following:
a. Unmark all transactions
b. Mark all the appropriate deposits - compare cleared deposits total (which shows under the deposits) to deposits total on statement - if it's a match go to next step
c. Mark just the checks - compare the "cleared" balance with checks subtotal on statement - if that's ok, go to next steps
d. Mark just electronic transfers... etc. etc.
At this point if I want to total/sub total cleared items as I work with my statement I have to do it manually. The "Cleared"/ "Uncleared" fields are basically useless (actually, there's no point in even having them there, is there?)
Also, there is no easy way to mark a specific transaction as cleared (green check mark) either so it goes into the total. (Would have to edit each individual transaction, switch to "cleared" - a multi-step vs. one click process.) This is not a valid workaround.
Not good. I'd want to go back to previous version based just on this.
Alec
(Just edited this for punctuation, a bit more clarity)

Ah sorry - I did search but obviously not nearly thoroughly enough (wow - that looks like an easy search, too, that's a bit embarrassing!) - looks like it's being taken seriously and addressed.
Thanks, I'm good!
