Focus doesn't move to next transaction when confirming Investment Transactions
If I have a number of downloaded investment transactions in a register I find that the focus doesn't automatically move to the succeeding transaction after I confirm the current one. This is true whether I am using the Confirm button at the bottom of the screen or pressing Command/Enter combination on the keyboard. I can't remember if this was true with MD 2010.

It has been true for all past versions of Moneydance. :-(

I noticed this too after upgrading to MD 2011. I could have sworn the focus moved to the next Investment transaction after confirming the current one, just like in other types of accounts. Any MD 2010 users out there who can check?

I just downloaded my investment transactions into a copy of MD2010 (2010r3 (757)) and the focus DOES move to the next transaction once you confirm the previous one (same as in any banking register).
I see the focus not moving to the next transaction in MD2011 (790) as a bug and would like to report it as such.

Hi Ben,
This ticket # 3656 looks like a similar ticket to ticket # 3651
http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/bugs/339-focus-doesnt-move...
Perhaps they should be combined or added together.

Fix the bug, please.

Hi All,
In the interim, the DOWN arrow key moves focus to the next txn.

Yes, add my vote to this as well. Is it possible to have the matching panel for investment registers?

I have downloaded 2011r2 (799) and I'm disappointed that this wasn't fixed. I was hoping to see this addressed as it was a bug that was introduced changing a properly working function into a cumbersome activity now.
12 Posted by ppinocci on Oct 29, 2011 @ 02:30 PM
And I installed the new stable release 2011r2 (803) and it's not fixed in it either. I guess 4 months wasn't enough lead time to get it fixed. Sorry for being snotty, but it seemed like an easy thing to fix, were given plenty of time, users who informed you of it and wanted it fixed, and even downloaded and tested the pre-release for you and told you it still wasn't fixed. And no posts in this discussion from Moneydance since July. I think the users did their part but Mondeydance did not. And don't forget, it was something that Moneydance actually broke in 2011r1. So it seems like they'd be especially careful to make sure it got fixed. I guess not.

Just updated my investment account and am also disappointed to see that this is still not fixed in 803. Thought I'd post just to register my disappointment with hopes that this will be "repaired" in the next update.

I feel it is my duty to post every month after I update my investment accounts and run into this continuing BROKEN process. I would hope to hear from support that this is being worked on and will be available in the next release. I have seen a reference of someone using b.804. Was this addressed in that build?

Hi jbnyt,
In build 804, the user still needs to use the ARROW key to move focus to the next txn in an Investment Account.

Maybe we need to open a new discussion, since they are ignoring this one, not having posted anything to it in over 5 months, despite bug report #3651 being open, admission that they broke it in version 2011v1 in May and 2011v2 released 6 months later without it fixed . Any other suggestions to getting them to respond to our repeated requests for an update?

Hi all,
We're not ignoring this issue, but I also don't have any news on the fix. I've emailed Sean and asked him to chime in, so hopefully we'll hear from him this weekend. I'll also pick his brain about it next time we discuss bugs.

Hi Everyone,
I'm sorry it has taken so long to get this fixed. I fixed the bug last night. You can download a version with the fix from our just-updated preview page:

Thanks!

Hi All,
Moneydance 2011r2+ (805)
OS: Windows XP 5.1 x86
Java: 1.6.0_29 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
I'm not sure whether or not I may have been a little heavy handed on the CTRL-ENTER key combo but I've experienced focus moving to the next txn, THAT txn then getting imediately Confirmed and focus then jumping to yet the next txn.
If for example I had 3 txns to Confirm, after editing the first txn, when I key combo CTRL-ENTER to Accept the txn, both the existing txn and the 2nd txn get Confirmed and focus finally lands to the third txn.
Due to year end Cap-Gains distributions, there were quite a few txns to Confirm this morning and I did notice this behavior on 3 or 4 different occasions.
I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this or if I need to just lighten up on the ol' keyboard.

Hi Kevin,
Unfortunately I had already confirmed all my transactions using the mouse prior to reading your post so I can't replicate your situation using the keyboard. I didn't run into any difficulties using the mouse. When I get more transactions I will use the keyboard to see if any strange behavior occurs.
Happy New Year to you!

Hi jbnyt,
Thank you for your reply.
I'll look forward to your feedback.
Happy New Year to you and yours.

Hi Kevin,
Just wanted to let you know that I just tried confirming transactions as per your description and didn't run into any unusual behavior. I made edits to some transactions and then used the keyboard combo to confirm and the focus moved down to the next available transaction as expected (i.e. without then automatically confirming that one as well). I even had a few transactions that didn't need any editing and continued to use the keyboard without any unexpected behaviors.
I'm running:
Moneydance 2011r2+ (805)
Mac OS X 10.5.8
Java Version: 1.6.0_26
Java Vendor: Apple Inc.
Hope this helps.

Hi jbnyt,
Thank you for your reply,
Since I'm in a Windows environment, the issue that I've experienced may be OS specific.
However, I'm leaning towards chalking this one up to my 14 year old keyboard. It came with my first Windows 95 IBM. I like the feel of it and can't seem to part with it.
If this skipping issue happens again, I'll try swapping out the keyboard.
Thanks again for your feedback.

Kevin,
Just wanted to let you know that I just confirmed a few downloaded investment transactions using the Ctrl Enter key combo and also didn't experience your issue, and I'm a Windows user. So it does look like it might be your keyboard. Hope that helps.

Hi Paul,
Thank you for your feedback.
Do you know of anyone who'd be interested in a 'slightly' used keyboard? One owner! :)
