Can't change backup folder after profile move.
Hi,
I think this is a problem of my own doing, but I cannot change
the backup folder (File/Preferences/Backup/Choose Folder (Seperate
Backup).
I presume this is due to the fact that I have recently moved my
user profile account onto a new partition. Does anyone know how to
get this to work? I presume it is a registry key that needs
changing?
There is a similar thread
HERE but no solution was posted.
Thanks.

Liam,
How far along are you getting when it stops working? When you click on the button do you get a new window or is that not happening? If you open the console window (under the Help menu) are there any error messages showing up in it when you pres the button?
Sincerely,
Jon Hoover, Moneydance Support

Hi,
When I click the button it looks to have been pressed, but i do not get a new window or anything.
However the console window is showing a lot of error messages, which I have attached as a notepad file.
Thanks.

Hi Liam
This looks like a bug in an older version of Java. Can you please update to the latest version of Java and let me know if that helps.

Hi Ben,
I already have the latest Java version, however I do also have an older version installed which I can't uninstall. I just get the following:
Error 1325.Documents is not a valid short file name.
Thanks.

Liam,
What OS are you using?
Depending on which one it is, I can give you directions on removing Java.

Liam,
I'm not sure exactly how you should proceed. I took a look at dealing with that error you are getting and if you are computer savvy I would encourage you to do a search and see about trying to fix it yourself. Otherwise I would consider contacting windows tech support. I think that your inability to move the folder may be related to the inability to remove the older version of java, just a guess though.
Sorry I couldn't have been more help,

The error 1325 is a java error. Uninstall all versions of java from your computer, reboot, then go into "program files" and make sure the java folders are gone.
Download and run Ccleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ and run it to clean up the registry. Now reinstall the current version of java and that should resolve the problem with the error message . It may also resolve the problem with changing the backup folder, but that remains to be seen!
Hope that helps
Dave

I suspect that your installation of Moneydance is using a java installation that was provided by install4j. Take a look in:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\i4j_jres\
Delete any folders that contain java.

Thanks Ben, that has sorted it!
I did manage to get rid of all java versions by doing the following:
(HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders) and changing all entries containing "D" to "C", Then removed java with windows installer clean up tool (MSICUU2.exe) and re-installed the latest version.
However the problem persisted until I tried Bens fix.
Dave, I tried ccleaner. It didn't help with the uninstall but it found a load of errors and seems a good program which I will use.
Thanks all for your help!
Liam.
