New user, attempting first reconcile of imported checking account to printed bank statement. I understand how to enter beginning/ending balances but find no place to enter beginning/ending dates for this statement. Also, left pane of the reconcile window does not show all transactions for this statement period and it shows NO deposits in the right pane. I'm hopeful this is the app I've been looking for, so I appreciate any help --thanks!!

This question is moved here from a previous reconcile issue, posted as #3579. Check that thread for two responses to this question, i.e., maxing the reconcile window allowed all debits and deposits to appear, recon was then quick and easy. Beginning/ending dates became a non-issue.

Good to hear that you found all the txns.

Yes, MD does not care about beginning and ending dates on a normal reconcile. (I think they get involved when downloading txns, which I don't do.) This does seem odd when coming from other programs which make a big deal of it. I do miss having a record of exactly which statements I've reconciled as well as which txns. And I liked the way that Quicken would hide txns later than the statement closing date to prune what I had to look at -- that's especially helpful when reconciling has been put off for a few months, and even under normal conditions it can help get the right txn when the same txn occurs month after month. Still, I find it a minor point.

I was trying to get to the issue #3579 but get the following error:
The page you are looking for can't be found

Check to see if you typed in the correct URL — if you still can't find it, the page may have moved.

    Sorry about that . . .

Title of that earlier query is "Reconciling Issue" (search that if this link
     doesn't work.

    The URL to #3579:

Sometimes I find a learning curve is no fun --except for the nice folks who
make an effort to help me out!

The problem of deposits not being shown is simply that the default size for the window is too small. Drag the window to make it larger and you will see the deposits. We will have the default window size larger in the next update.

I am sorry for the trouble this has caused you.
