Cannot Open Moneydance File

Hi,

I am trying to open my moneydance file that is password locked. I am finding that while the program accepts my password it will not open the file. Moneydance runs in the background and I have to use task manager to shut it down before I can attempt again. I can open new files and open other files, just not my file I would like to open.

Anyone have any ideas on what/where it/I am going wrong?

    Hi,

Sorry to hear about the issues you've encountered.

Can you let me know the steps you have taken to open the data, and also the some more information on the file itself you're trying to open? What is the file format and where it is located, your local system or a shared folder? Did you make any changes to your computer or Moneydance before this began?

Can you also let me know the version of Moneydance you're currently running? To do this, go to Moneydance menu --> About Moneydance.

    H Jenny,
The  data is password locked.  I would open it by opening moneydance. The file was originally saved in the default location on my local hard drive.  I then tried to use dropbox to store the data.  I kept the original data in the same location, just changed the name.  The dropbox file was working, but now it will not.  I can still access the data on the shared folder from my other PC.
The file format is whatever moneydance decides, I'm not sure what else you might mean.  The file is the moneydance file.
    My version is 2015.7 (1358)

When you try to open the data, do you see any error messages or notifications? If so, can you let me know what they detail?

Can you go to Moneydance menu --> Open --> Open other, and navigate to the Dropbox location, select the '.moneydance' file, and let me know if this allows you to access the data?

I am having exactly the same issue. I have downloaded the latest version but doesn't help. After entering my passcode it gives the message that it cannot open file and I should contact 'Support'. Have tried 'open other' and pointed to my dropbox file but no success.
