We are trying out Moneydance. We entered about 5 reminders which had disappeared when we opend Moneydance today. Any suggestions? We are looking for a reliable replacement for Quicken after 10+ years. Thanks!

    Pamela,

If you have recoded the reminders then they will not be listed in the reminder box. Scroll the calender on the home page to the next month. You should see the days with unrecorded reminders high lighted in yellow.

You can also click on the reminder page which is listed under the homepage on the side bar. The reminders should be listed in the side bar to the right. As well you can access the reminders from the tool bar by clicking tools > Reminders.

We had entered a few bills that we had been tracking in Quicken. When we went to pay them today, they were gone. After we opened Mondaydance, we went to the reminder page and the sidebar where the reminders should be listed was empty.

    Hi Pamela

If you select Tools->Reminders do you see your reminders listed there?

If not then I suspect that you either did not save your data file before closing the program or you have inadvertently opened an older data file that was created before the reminders were added.

I recommend creating the reminders again and then selecting File->Save... Then close the program and reopen it and verify that the reminders are still there.

All of my reminders, 30+, vanished today. Moneydance also "forgot" a couple of online banking links, and it seems to have reset starting balances of several key accounts. My transaction record is good, but balances are way off. I can fix most of this manually, but I need those reminders to be restored. It'll take months to recover the reminders manually.

    Any ideas?

This is not a problem where I've opened the wrong file, or failed to save the data. I have only one MD file, and I've been using it for months, saving regularly, without issues.

    Hi David,
I did a search of our database and there was one case that reminded me of yours. In that case it seemed as if the later part of the data file was somehow corrupted. If you would be willing to send me your data file to jon at Moneydance dot com, I could confirm this, but I also understand if you are not comfortable with this.
Did you have Moneydance set to save back-ups? If you go to the Preferences window (under File or Moneydance menu) you should see a backups tab. Did you have backups set to a specific location?
If you do, go there and rename the files so they do not have the date information attached to the end, and just end with '.md'. Do any of these have your relevant data?
It could be otherwise but I suspect that your main file somehow got damaged and you will have to restore from a prior back-up. I apologize for the inconvenience of this. Let me know if you think this may be otherwise or if you have further questions.
    Sincerely,
    Jon Hoover, Moneydance Support

I've located a backup file that has everything that I need, and I can
make it my new primary file.

One question though... Before I realized this problem, I
synchronized the corrupt file with my iPhone. What should I expect
will happen during the first sync after restoring the back-up file? I
have transactions on my iPhone dated after the last backup but before
the last sync, and there are a few new transactions on my iPhone not
yet sync'ed to my MD file.

As long as the backup was from a time when the iPhone was "paired" with the file then it should pick up syncing again. Though if there are any yet-to-be-synced txns in the iPhone they will be pushed into the backup file and not the main file, so they may be lost from the main file if you ever wanted to get back to that.
