Number of shares not rounded but truncated.

First, this is not an issue about how many decimal places are available for the number of shares field. It is about the fact that extra decimal places are dealt with by truncation, not rounding.

My problem is with an investment account where the standard 3 decimal places are used. However, for some transactions the number of shares comes in as 100*(true number of shares). I fix it by dividing the number of shares by 100 before recording the transaction. The problem is that Moneydance doesn't round the resulting number to 3 decimal places, it truncates it. You can verify this by entering the number of shares as 1.0009 (in an account where 3 decimal places are used). As soon as you tab to another field the number changes to 1 (it should change to 1.001). Entering 1.001 works fine.

This has been mentioned a couple of times by others but the tickets in the tracking system that include the issue were all also about the limit on the number of decimal places and got folded into ticket #305 which doesn't list the truncation problem in the proposed fix.

Please update ticket #305 to include a fix to the truncation problem, or maybe it should be a new ticket. No number should ever be truncated. Rounding is the appropriate action.

Thanks much for a great product!

Hi. It's mentioned in 304 but the proposed solution doesn't address
it. If you would like me to start a second ticket I can. Otherwise I could
    add a comment to 304. - Mary
